5. Troubleshooting
For LAD-500 and LAD-500(R) supporting the file downloading and
compressing function to the audio card EAM-032
Q. Program does not work even though has been installed.
Connect the USB downloader to the PC’ s USB Port.
Windows 98 / Me / 2000 / XP automatically recognize the USB. (it
is impossible to install manually.)
6.1. Product construction
A. USB downloader
After recognition, the USB driver is installed and downloader
management program works.
- support USB protocol ver 1.1
- Maximum transfer rate : 0.8Mbps
(This is variable according to the user’ s
operating system.)
Q. The communication with audio card and USB downloader(LAD-
500) is not good
- The maximum SPI controlling signal rate : 5 Kbps
- Supplied power : DC 5V
Disconnect the USB downloader from PC’ s USB port and connect
them again.
B. Audio card charger
- Li-ion/Polymer charger

- Power output : DC 4.2 V
- Charging time : 1.5 hour charging, about 6 hour continuous
playing with maximized volume.
MP3 is the technical abbreviation for a method of compressing
audio files into digital formats. (MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3) This is the
most used compression scheme. It can compress the standard
audio track to smaller size and doesn’ t degrade the sound quality
C. Remote control signal acceptor
- Remote control signal infrared sensor
What is VBR(Variable Bit Rate)?
– Supportable signal : NEC/Sharp remote control receiving
protocol , and all the remote control signal of leading edge type
signaling system.(Some of that may not receive the signal
exactly.)
The bitrate of a compressed file is the main determinant of sound
quality. The bitrate is the amount of data stored for each second of
music. CBR compressed files store the same amount of data for
every second in the file, even if some seconds contain very
complex music and others contain very simple music. VBR files by
contrast, vary the amount of data stored depending on the
complexity of a particular section of music. In a symphonic piece,
when the full orchestra is pounding away the bitrate will be higher,
and when just a single flute is playing, the bitrate will be lower.
Ideally you should get smaller, higher quality files with VBR, but this
isn't always the case.
6.2. Precautions
A. Do not disconnect the USB cable or audio card while the USB
download management program is working.
B. Prevent this product from strong shock or moisture. Strong
shock may cause damage to the unit. If the unit is moisturized,
clean it with dry cloth as soon as possible and consult with the A/S
center.
What is BRM?
BRM is the technical abbreviation for Bit Rate Modification, named
by Etronics Corp. This is appropriate method for the portable player
as well as keeping the highest compressing ratio by using VBR.
The 25:1 compressing ratio is based on MPEG II, and 15:1 is on
MPEG I. ’ BRM’ is assigned to extension(.brm) of music file(s)
downloaded on the audio card.
E. Do not use the USB downloader with any other purpose except
charging , communicating with, downloading music file(s) on audio
card and receiving remote control signal .
D. If another applications occupy too much system resource, the
performance of USB downloader may be degraded.
Can you play the BRM file on your PC ?
No. The BRM file is encoded by RC5 128bit security, thus, you can
not play it on your PC and another MP3 player except the audio
card.
7. FAQ
What is MP3 ?
14-14
Download from Www.Somanuals.com. All Manuals Search And Download.
Guides for USB downloader management program
What is the reason of non-constant compressing ratio in the voice
download mode?
VBR files vary the amount of data stored depending on the
complexity of a particular section of music, therefore the
compressing ratio is relatively smaller when compressing complex
music like classic, pop, etc.
Why is there quality difference between directly compressing CD
music and compressing by MP3 ?
MP3 is lossy compression method; it compresses with discarding
the inaudible sound. This method cannot preserve the exact CD
sound source, so the quality of sound compressed with MP3 is
worse than directly compressing CD music.
Can I save the file that is not music one?
It can be saved on the audio card, but not uploaded for protect
copyright. And already saved file(s) cannot be changed.
