INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing a RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD

Remote. Your remote lets you control up to eight home

entertainment devices with one easy-to-use, compact

unit.

After installing batteries (see next section), you can

immediately use the RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD Remote to

control Sony home entertainment devices, and a Dish

Network satellite receiver. To control other brands,

perform the instructions in Programming a Device. For

best results, please read and perform all the remaining

instructions. Also, keep this guide for future reference.

INSTALLING BATTERIES

Yo u r RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD Remote requires four

AAA batteries (not supplied) for power.

Battery Use And Safety

• Use only fresh batteries of the required size and

recommended type.

• Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of

batteries (that is, standard, alkaline, or rechargeable),

or rechargeable batteries of different capacities.

CAUTION: If you do not plan to use the remote for an

extended period, remove the batteries. They can leak

chemicals that can damage electronic parts.

WARNING: Dispose of old batteries promptly and

properly. Do not burn or bury them.

To Install Batteries:

1. Open the battery compartment cover (located on

the back of the remote).

2. Place the AAA batteries in the compartment and

match the + and - polarity symbols inside.

3. Replace the cover.

NOTE:

The RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD Remote will not

lose any setup configurations, even when it

loses power.

Remote will be able to control the following types of

SETTING THE LANGUAGE

Before using your RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD Remote, you

must set the default language (either English or

Spanish). You cannot use your remote control until you

have set the language. To set the language for your

remote control for the first time, perform the following

steps:

1. After the remote powers up, the LCD displays

English OK or ꢀꢁ.

2. Press OK for English or press ꢁuntil Spanish is

displayed. Press OK.

3. The LCD displays Success and returns to normal

operation.

To change the language after the initial setup, perform

the following steps:

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ. The remote is

now in the programming mode.

2. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the LCD

display until Language is displayed.

3. Press OK once.

4. To set the language to English, press OK once. To set

the language to Spanish, use the ꢁto scroll to

Spanish. Press OK to select Spanish as the remote

control’s language.

5. To exit this menu, press EXIT once, or use the ꢂ

key to return to the previous menu.

SETTING THE CLOCK

To set the clock on your remote control, perform the

following steps:

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ. The remote is

now in the programming mode.

2. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the LCD

until Clock set is displayed.

3. Press OK once.

4. The LCD displays the time as previously set, if any.

The first set is the hour. The second set is the

minutes. In the position following the numbers,

the LCD displays A or P for A.M. or P.M.

5. While the number for the first digit is flashing, use

the ꢀor ꢁkeys to select the correct digit. You can

also change the time by pressing the number keys

on your remote control’s keypad.

6. Use the ꢃkey to change to the next digit, until the

last digit is set. Use ꢂto go back to the previous

digit.

7. After you have set the correct time, use the ꢃkey to

cursor over to A or P.

8. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to select either A or P.

9. Press OK once.

10. The LCD displays Success.

11. The LCD displays a day of the week. Use the ꢀor

ꢁkeys to change the day if it is not correct.

12. Press OK once. The day is now set.

13. The LCD displays Success.

NOTE:

The LCD does not display the clock on the

screen during normal operation. To view the

current time, press and hold the Light bulb

key until the LCD displays the time. The clock

is used for timed macros. For more

information on timed macros, see “Setting

Time Macros” on page 22.

PROGRAMMING A DEVICE

The RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD Remote comes pre-

programmed to operate Sony TVs, VCRs, DVD players,

and audio devices, as well as a Dish Network satellite

receiver. To control devices other than these default

brands, follow these steps; otherwise, skip this section.

Before proceeding, find the codes for the devices you

want to program in Manufacturer's Codes and write

them down or highlight them.

The RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD Remote offers three

methods for programming a device. You can program a

device by selecting its brand (for the top 25 brands

only), by manually entering its ID code into the remote

control, or by searching for the code.

Programming a Device by Selecting Its Brand

1. Turn on the device (for example, DVD player) and,

if needed, load media (for example, a DVD).

2. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ.

3. Press OK.

4. The LCD displays Brand.

5. Press OK. The LCD displays Press Mode or ꢀ

ꢁ.

6. Select the mode on the remote that you would like

to set (for example, TV).

7. The LCD displays Setup CBL. Use the ꢀꢁkeys

to scroll through the different types of devices to

set up. Press OK.

8. Select the brand of device you want to control (for

example, Sony), by using the ꢀꢁkeys to scroll

through the brand list. You can also select your

brand by using your keypad like the keys on a cell

phone, to jump from letter to letter (for example,

press 2 repeatedly to select either A, B, or C). Press

OK.

9. Aim the remote control at your device (for

example, TV). Press any key but OK , ꢀ, ꢂ, ꢁor

EXIT to test that the remote control works with your

device. Use the ꢀꢁkeys to select a different code

within the same brand, if any. Press OK to save.

10. The LCD displays Success.

11. The LCD displays Edit Text. This option allows

you to change the default display for this mode

from the brand of the device (for example, Sony) to

a personalized display (for example, My TV). Press

OK to edit text, or press ꢂto exit without text

editing. See steps 4-5 of “Using Text Edit” on

page 25.

Programming a Device by Manually Entering Its Code

1. Turn on the device (for example, DVD player) and,

if needed, load media (for example, a DVD).

2. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ.

3. Press OK once. The LCD displays Brand.

4. Use the ꢀꢁkeys to scroll through the

LCD display until it displays ID Set.

5. Press OK.

6. The LCD displays Press Mode OK or ꢀꢁ.

Press the mode on the remote for the device you

want to program (for example, TV).

7. The LCD displays Enter ID. Press OK. Enter the

first five-digit code for your device. As you enter

the code numbers, each number displays on the

LCD from right to left.

8. Press OK to confirm the code.

NOTE:

If you do not press OK, the remote does not

save the code you entered.

9. The LCD displays Test followed by the code you

entered (for example, Test 10000).

NOTE:

At this point, you can use function keys other

than OK, ꢂand EXIT (for example, POWER) to

test the code.

10. Press OK once. The LCD displays Success.

NOTE:

If you cannot find a code that works, see

“Programming a Device by Searching for Its

Code” on page 14.

11. The LCD displays Edit Text. This option allows

you to change the default display for this mode

from the code of the device (for example, 10000) to

a personalized display (for example, My TV). Press

OK to edit text, or press ꢂto exit without text

editing. See steps 4-5 of “Using Text Edit” on

page 25.

12. Repeat steps 1 to 11 for each device you want to

control. For future reference, write down each

working device code in a safe place.

Programming a Device by Searching for Its Code

If your device does not respond to the remote after

trying all codes listed for your brand, or if your brand is

not listed, try searching for your code. For example, to

search for a code for your TV:

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ.

2. Press OK.

3. Use the ꢁkey to scroll through the LCD display

until the LCD displays Search.

4. Press OK once.

5. Press the mode key on the remote for the device

you want to program (for example, TV).

6. The LCD displays Setup CBL. Use the ꢀꢁkeys

to select the device type you want to set up.

7. Press OK.

8. The LCD displays Press Test Key. At this point,

press the test key you would like the remote to

transmit every time it moves to the next code

during the search.

9. The remote displays the next code in the list. Use

the ꢀꢁkeys to scroll through the codes. The LCD

displays the code for the current devices (for

example, 10000) and transmits your test function.

10. If the TV responds to your test function (for

example, POWER), press OK. The LCD displays

Success.

NOTE:

The remote transmits the test key you pressed

in step 8 every time the ꢀor ꢁkey is

pressed. If desired, within each code, any

function key except the arrows, OK, and EXIT

can be used for testing also.

11. The LCD displays Edit Text. This option allows

you to change the default display for this mode

from the code of the device (for example, 10000) to

a personalized display (for example, My TV).Press

OK to edit text, or press ꢂto exit without text

editing. See steps 4-5 of “Using Text Edit” on

page 25.

12. To search for other device codes, repeat steps 1 to

12, substituting the appropriate device key.

USING MY SYSTEM MODE

The RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD Remote includes a custom

Home Theater mode. After the My System key is

programmed, it will allow you to access four groups of

remote control keys without having to change device

modes.

If the default settings fit your needs, you can skip

programming this mode. Otherwise, perform the steps

in the following section to assign device modes to the

Control Groups.

PROGRAMMING MY SYSTEM MODE

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ. Use the ꢀ

ꢁkeys to scroll through the LCD until My

System OK or ꢂꢀꢁis displayed.

Press OK.

2. The LCD displays Channel OK or ꢂ. Press OK.

3. The LCD displays Press Mode or ꢂ.

4. Press the mode key for the device you want to

control the channel (for example, TV). The LCD

displays Success TV.

5. The LCD displays Volume OK or ꢂ. Press OK.

Press the mode key for the device that you want to

control volume (for example, AUDIO). The LCD

displays Success.

6. The LCD displays Transport OK orꢂ. Press OK.

7. Press the mode key for the device you want to

control transport (for example, VCR). The LCD

displays Success VCR.

8. The LCD displays Menu Nav OK or ꢂ. Press OK.

9. Press the mode key for the device you want to

control menu navigation (for example, CBL/SAT).

The LCD displays Success SAT.

10. When programming is complete, the LCD displays

Complete and exits the My System setup.

USING LEARNING

The RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD Remote includes a

Learning feature so you can add functions that are

unique to your home entertainment devices (e.g.,VCR

racking Up or Down). However, there are some

considerations

Learning Precautions

•

Your original remote controls must be in working

order for learning to work properly.

Learned keys are mode-specific, so each one can

store a unique function for each mode.

Learning capacity is approximately 34 to 50 keys,

depending on the code being learned.

Some keys cannot be learned: Mode keys (for

example, TV), P, and the Light bulb key.

Certain device functions are not learnable,

including multi-frequency types, some high

frequency ones, and other unusual formats.

For optimum learning, avoid high levels of ambient

light such as natural sunlight or energy-efficient

fluorescent lights.

NOTE:

Please have your original remote controls

handy before programming learning.

Programming a Learned Key

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ. Use the ꢀ

ꢁkeys to scroll through the LCD display

until Learn is displayed. Press OK.

2. The LCD displays Add Learn OK or ꢂ. Press OK.

3. The LCD displays Press Mode or ꢂ.

4. Press a mode key once (i.e., TV, VCR , PVR, CBL/SAT,

CD, DVD, AUX, or AUDIO) to assign a mode to learn

onto.

5. Place the RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD Remote head-to-

head (about 2" apart) from your original remote

control. Also locate the key (on your original

remote control) that you want the RadioShack 8-

in-1 LCD Remote to learn.

6. Press the key on your RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD

Remote that wish to assign learning.

7. On the original remote, press and hold the key.

Continue holding the key on the original remote

until the RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD Remote’s LCD

displays either Success or Learn Fail.

NOTE:

Immediately after you have pressed the key

that will learn, the LED flashes rapidly and the

LCD displays Learning. The remote times

out after five seconds and returns to step 6.

8. Repeat steps 4 through 7 for another mode and/or

key or press EXIT to exit programming. Repeat

steps 5 through 7 if learning failed.

Deleting a Single Learning Key

his process returns the key to its original programming

for the mode you select. You can also delete learned

programming by teaching a different function to the key

(see “Programming a Learned Key” on page 17).

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ. Use the ꢀ

ꢁkeys to scroll through the LCD display

until Learn is displayed. Press OK.

2. Use the ꢀꢁkeys to scroll through the

LCD display until Dlt Learn is displayed. Press

OK.

3. The LCD displays Press Mode or ꢂ.

4. Press the mode key once (i.e., TV, VCR , PVR, CBL/

SAT, CD, DVD, AUX, or AUDIO) for the mode you want

to delete the learned key from.

5. The LCD displays DLT Key or ꢂꢀꢁ. Press OK.

6. The LCD displays Select Key or ꢂ.

7. Press the key containing the learned function to be

deleted. The LCD displays Are U Sure OK or ꢂ.

8. Press OK. The LCD displays Success.

9. Repeat steps 5 through 7 for another key.

Deleting All Learned Keys in a Specific Mode

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ. Use the ꢀ

ꢁkeys to scroll through the LCD display

until Learn is displayed. Press OK.

2. Use the ꢀꢁkeys to scroll through the LCD

display until Dlt Learn is displayed. Press OK.

3. The LCD displays Press Mode or ꢂ.

4. Press the mode key once (i.e., TV, VCR , PVR, CBL/

SAT, CD, DVD, AUX, or AUDIO), to clear all learned

keys for that mode.

5. The LCD displays DLT Key. Press ꢀꢁuntil the

LCD displays DLT All. Press OK.

6. The LCD displays Are U Sure OK or ꢂ. Press OK.

7. The LCD displays Success and exits

programming.

8. Repeat steps 3 to 7 for another mode.

USING KEYMOVER

The RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD Remote includes a

Keymover feature that allows you to map (or copy) keys

from one mode (i.e., source mode) to another mode

(i.e., destination mode).

PROGRAMMING KEYMOVER

For example, if your DVD player does not have volume

control, you can map those keys (i.e., VOLꢀ, VOLꢁ,

and MUTE) from the TV mode to DVD mode as follows:

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ. The remote is

now in the programming mode.

2. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the

LCD display until Key Mover is displayed. Press

OK.

3. The LCD displays Move Key. Press OK.

4. The LCD displays Press from Mode.

5. For the source mode, press a desired device key

once (i.e., AUX, CBL/SAT, CD, TV, DVD, AUDIO, VCR,

or PVR). For this example, press TV once.

6. The LCD displays Press From Key. For the source

key, press a key to be moved once. For this example

press VOLꢀonce.

7. The LCD displays Press To Mode. For the

destination mode, press a desired device key once

(i.e., AUX, CBL/SAT, CD, TV, DVD, AUDIO, VCR, or

PVR). For this example, press DVD once.

8. The LCD displays Press To Key. For the

destination key, press a key to be moved once. For

this example press VOLꢀonce.Upon keymoving,

the LCD displays Success.

9. Repeat steps 3 to 8 to move additional keys. For this

example, repeat steps 3 to 8 two more times to map

the remaining volume control keys, substituting

VOLꢁand MUTE as source and destination keys in

steps 6 and 7.

Upon completion of the above procedure, you can now

use your RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD Remote to control the

TV’s volume and mute in the DVD mode, as well as in

the TV mode.

Restoring a Single Keymover Key

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set.

2. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the

LCD display until Key Mover is displayed. Press

OK.

3. The LCD displays Move key.

4. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll to Clear Move and

press OK.

5. The LCD displays Press from Mode.

6. Press the source mode once where the keymoved

key is stored.

7. The LCD displays Press From Key. Then press

the source key once. Upon key restoration, the LCD

displays Success.

8. If desired, repeat steps 4 through 6 to restore

another key.

Restoring All Keymover Keys in a Single Mode

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set.

2. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the

screen until Keymover is displayed. Press OK.

3. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll to Clear All. Press

OK.

4. The LCD displays Press Mode or ꢂ. Press the

mode you want to delete all keymoved keys from.

5. The LCD displays Are U Sure. Press OK.

6. The LCD displays Success and exits.

PROGRAMMING FAVORITE CHANNEL SCAN

The remote allows you to store a list of up to 10 favorite

channels, in any order, that are immediately scanned

when you press FAV (SCAN).

NOTE:

You can only store channels from one device

for Favorite Channel Scan.

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ.

2. Use the use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll

through the LCD display until Fav Ch is

displayed. Press OK.

3. The LCD displays Select Mode or ꢂ.

4. Select the mode you want to program for Favorite

Channel Scan (for example, TV).

5. The LCD displays 1st Fav OK or ꢂ. Press OK.

6. The LCD displays Enter Chan OK or ꢂ. Enter a

channel number (for example, 039). Press OK.

NOTE:

If you press ꢂafter programming your first

Favorite Channel, the remote saves the last

Favorite Channel selection and exits back to

the main Favorite Channel screen.

7. The LCD displays 2 Fav CH OK orꢂ. Press OK.

Enter the next channel number (for example, 055).

Press OK.

8. Continue entering channel numbers until you get

up to 10 channels programmed.

9. As soon as you enter the 10th channel, the LCD

displays Success and exits (if you decide you

need fewer than 10 channels, then press EXIT or

ꢂ).

NOTE:

Whenever you want to add or replace one or

more favorite channels, all previously entered

favorite channels are cleared.

USING CHANNEL SCAN

Use FAV (SCAN) to start a three-second scan of all

favorite channels (if programmed; see “Programming

Favorite Channel Scan” on page 20) or all channels (if

Favorite Channel Scan is not programmed).

1. Press a device key.

2. Press SCAN once.

3. To stop scanning channels at any time, press any

key once.

SETTING THE POWER MACRO

You can use your new RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD Remote

to program a power macro that turns your devices off or

on in the sequence you choose.

To set the Power macro:

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ.

2. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the

LCD display until Macro is displayed. Press OK.

3. The LCD displays PWR Macro. Press OK.

4. The LCD displays Add Macro. Press OK. The LCD

displays Press Mode IN or ꢀꢁ.

5. Press the mode key for each device you want to add

to the power macro in the order they should

execute when the macro is activated.

6. The LCD displays Hold P to save orꢂafter the

first mode key is pressed.

7. After entering the modes, press and hold P until

the LED blinks twice, then release. The LCD

displays Success.

Now, when you press and hold the Power key for about 2

seconds, the remote executes the series of commands

you entered.

NOTE: You may not include the user keys in the Power

macro. User keys are any key other than the mode keys.

To Clear the Power Macro

To clear the Power macro, repeat steps 1-3 above, then

perform the following steps:

1. The LCD displays Add Macro.

2. Press ꢀꢁuntil the LCD displays DLT Macro.

Press OK.

3. The LCD displays Are u sure OK orꢂ. Press OK.

The LCD displays Success and the remote exits.

SETTING KEY MACROS

Yo u r RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD Remote allows you to set

up key macros to activate certain keys in a specific order.

For example, you can set up a key macro to change the

channels on your TV, raise or lower the volume, and

start recording on your VCR, all with the touch of one

key. The M1, M2, and M3 keys are reserved for macros.

To set a key macro, perform the following steps:

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ.

2. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the

LCD display until Macro is displayed. Press OK.

3. The LCD displays PWR Macro. Press ꢁuntil the

LCD displays Key Macro OK or ꢂꢀꢁ. Press

OK.

4. The LCD displays Add Macro. Press OK.

5. The LCD displays Sel Macro Key or ꢂ. Press

the key you want to program the macro on.

NOTE:

Any function key like M1, M2, or M3, other

than EXIT or ꢂcan be a macro key.

6. The LCD displays Press Keys In. When you press

ꢁyou can continue reading instructions. Press the

keys for the macro in the order they should occur.

For example, press TV and then Chan ꢀ.

7. When you have finished programming your key

macro, press and hold P until the LCD displays

Success and exits.

DELETING A KEY MACRO

To delete a key macro, perform the following steps:

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ.

2. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the

LCD display until Macro is displayed.

Press OK.

3. The LCD displays Pwr Macro. Press ꢀꢁuntil

the LCD displays Key Macro. Press OK.

4. Press ꢁ. The LCD displays DLT Macro. Press OK.

5. The LCD displays Press the Key or ꢂ. Press the

key for the macro you want to delete.

6. The LCD displays Are U Sure. Press OK.

7. The LCD displays Success and exits.

SETTING TIME MACROS

Yo u r RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD Remote allows you to set

up time macros to schedule certain commands in

advance, either daily or weekly. For example, you could

set up the remote to record a certain program for you on

a daily or weekly basis.

NOTE:

If you have not yet set the time, the LCD

displays Set Clock and the remote returns

to the main setup screen. See “Setting the

Clock” on page 10.

Setting a Daily Time Macro

To set up a daily time macro, perform the following

steps:

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ.

2. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the

LCD display until Macro is displayed.

Press OK.

3. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the LCD

display until Time Macro is displayed. Press OK.

4. The LCD displays Add Macro. Press OK.

5. The LCD displays Enter Time. Press OK. The LCD

displays the time of the current macro set, if any.

6. Set the time for your macro using the same

procedure as for setting the clock. See “Setting the

Clock” on page 10. Press OK after setting the clock.

7. The LCD displays Daily OK or ꢂꢀꢁ. Press OK.

8. The LCD displays Press Keys In. When you press

ꢁyou can continue reading instructions. Press

keys in the order they should occur in your time

macro.

9. After the first key press, the LCD displays Hold P

to Save. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Success and exits.

Setting a Weekly Time Macro

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ.

2. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the

LCD display until Macro is displayed.

Press OK.

3. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the LCD

display until Time Macro is displayed. Press OK.

NOTE:

If you have not yet set the time, the LCD will

display Set Clock and the remote will return to

the main setup screen. See “Setting the Clock”

on page 10.

4. The LCD displays Add Macro OK or ꢂꢀꢁ.

Press OK.

5. The LCD displays Enter Time. Press OK. The LCD

displays the time of the current macro set, if any.

6. Set the time for your macro using the same

procedure as for setting the clock. See “Setting the

Clock” on page 10.

7. The LCD displays Daily OK orꢂꢀꢁ. Press ꢁ.

8. The LCD displays Weekly OK or ꢂꢀꢁ. Press

OK.

9. The LCD displays Sunday. Use the ꢀꢁ keys to

select the day you want the time macro to execute.

Press OK.

10. The LCD displays Press Keys In. When you press

ꢁyou can continue reading instructions.Press

keys in the order they should occur in your macro.

11. After you have completed your macro sequence,

press and hold P until the LCD displays Success

and exits.

Deleting a Time Macro

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ.

2. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the

LCD display until Macro is displayed.

Press OK.

3. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the LCD

display until Time Macro is displayed. Press OK.

4. The LCD displays Add Macro OK or ꢂꢀꢁ.

Press ꢁ.

5. The LCD displays DLT Macro or ꢂꢀꢁ. Press

OK.

6. The LCD displays the currently set time macro.

CHANGING VOLUME LOCK

The RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD Remote comes preset to

allow independent volume control of each selected

device (Global Volume Unlock). However, you may

change the Volume Lock setting to Global Volume Lock

so that one device's volume controls volume in all other

modes. After that, you can perform Individual Volume

Unlock on a selected device to set its volume control for

independent operation.

Locking Volume Control to One Mode (Global Volume

Lock)

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ.

2. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the

LCD display until Vol Lock is displayed.

Press OK.

3. The LCD displays All Volume OK or ꢂ. Press

OK.

4. The LCD displays Press Mode or ꢂ. Press the

mode key for the device you wish to control volume

(for example, TV). The LCD displays Success and

shows the device that has been locked to control

volume (for example, TV).

Now when you press VOL+, VOL-, or MUTE, the selected

device (for example, TV) controls the volume regardless

of the current mode.

Unlocking Volume Control for a Single Device

(Individual Volume Unlock)

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ.

2. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the

LCD display until Vol Lock is displayed. Press OK.

3. Use the use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the

LCD display until Unlock DEv is displayed. Press

OK.

4. The LCD displays Press Dev or ꢂ. Press the

mode key for the device you want to unlock, for

example, AUDIO).

5. The LCD displays success and shows the device

whose volume has been unlocked (for example,

AUDIO).

6. Repeat Steps 3 to 5 for any other devices that you

want to have independent volume control.

Unlocking All Volume Control (Restoring Global

Unlock)

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ.

2. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the

LCD display until Vol Lock is displayed. Press OK.

3. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the LCD

display until Unlock All is displayed. Press OK.

4. The LCD displays Are you sure or ꢂ. Press OK.

5. The LCD displays success and the remote exits.

USING TEXT EDIT

Yo u r RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD Remote allows you to edit

the top line of your LCD screen to add custom

information. For example, you can change a default

mode label from TV to My TV.

NOTE:

A maximum of 10 characters is allowed for

Text Edit on the first line.

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ.

2. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll through the

LCD display until Text Edit OK or ꢂꢀ

ꢁis displayed. Press OK.

3. The LCD displays Press Mode or ꢂ. Press the

mode key whose text you want to edit (for example,

TV).

4. Using your number keys like the key pad on a cell

phone, edit the text. The character you are

currently editing will have a blinking cursor. When

the first letter is set, press ꢃto advance to the next

letter. Pressing the ꢂkey exits back to the previous

screen. Press the digit 0 to clear the current

character flashing.

5. Press OK to save the edited text. The LCD displays

Success and exits.

RESETTING THE REMOTE

Yo u r RadioShack 8-in-1 LCD Remote allows you to

reset your remote. Doing so clears all setup features not

related to ID code setup (for example, macros, Key

Mover, volume lock, etc.).

To Reset Your Remote:

1. Press and hold P until the LCD displays

Code Set OK or ꢀꢁ.

2. Use the ꢀor ꢁkeys to scroll to Reset.

Press OK.

3. The LCD displays User Reset OKorꢂ. Press OK.

4. The LCD displays Are U Sure. Press OK.

5. The LCD displays Success and exits.

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM: LED does not blink when you press a key.

SOLUTION: Replace batteries with four (4) new AAA

alkaline batteries.

PROBLEM: LED blinks when you press a key, but device

does not respond.

SOLUTION: Make sure the remote is aimed at your device

and is not more than 15 feet away.

PROBLEM: LED blinks one long blink.

SOLUTION: An entry error has occurred (for example,

wrong key). Try entry sequence again.

PROBLEM: Remote does not control devices or

commands are not working properly.

SOLUTION: Try all listed codes for the device. Make sure

the device operates with an infrared remote control.

PROBLEM: No volume on a second TV.

SOLUTION: See Changing Volume Lock.

PROBLEM: Channels do not change properly.

SOLUTION: If the original remote control required you to

press Enter to change channels, press Enter on this

remote after entering the channel number.
