Emergency Car Starter
This Schumacher Emergency Car Starter is designed to start
a weak automotive or power sport 12 volt battery.
This Emergency Car Starter is intended for use on 4-, 6- and
8-cylindergas-poweredcarsandlighttrucks.Donotuseon6voltor
24 volt electrical systems or diesel-powered vehicles. This Emer-
gency Car Starter is designed to work if the vehicle’s starter clicks
or the engine turns over too slowly to start. This product is not
designed to start a vehicle with a heavily discharged battery or
for use on vehicle batteries that are shorted or sulfated; these
will not hold a charge and will need to be replaced. See a profes-
sional technician.
Other uses include:

Provides backup power for equipment such as cell phones,
PDAs, CD players, digital cameras, etc.
•
Provides power to USB devices.

ꢁ. The INTERNAL BATTERY CHARGING LED and the LED on
the starter’s male plug should illuminate red. If these LEDs
do not light, turn the car ignition key to the Accessory (ACC)
position. If the LEDs still do not light, check for a faulty fuse
in the male plug or in the vehicle’s fuse panel. Replace with
the same size and amp rating.
ꢂ. Depress the CHARGE CAR BATTERY button to begin the
charging cycle. The CAR BATTERY CHARGING LED will il-
luminate red and the INTERNAL BATTERY CHARGING LED
will turn off. If the radio, fan, interior lights or headlights come
on, TURN THEM OFF IMMEDIATELY.
4. Charge for at least ꢀ0 minutes, or until the green LED lights,
before trying to start the car. Attempt to start the car but if the
car only clicks or turns over slowly, continue to charge the car
until the CAR BATTERY CHARGING LED illuminates green
or a total charging time of ꢁ0 minutes has been reached. At
this time attempt a second car start.
5. When the car starts, press the CHARGE CAR BATTERY
switch to the OFF position (button up).
6. Disconnectthemaleplugfromthevehicle’sꢀꢁVDCaccessory
outlet.
7. Recharge the Emergency Car Starter as soon as possible.

RECHARGING THE EMERGENCY CAR STARTER
The EC-4000-USB comes uncharged. We recommend you charge
it immediately. Recharge after every use and every month if not
used. There are two ways to recharge:
A. Charging the EC-4000-USB’s internal battery with the AC
wall charger:
ꢀ. Plug the AC wall charger’s adaptor into the charger recep-
tacle on the back of the starter.
ꢁ. Plug the wall charger into a ꢀꢁ0V AC electrical wall outlet.
The INTERNAL BATTERY CHARGING LED will illuminate
red.
3. Wait 12 hours when charging for the first time. Subsequent
charges will be complete when the INTERNAL BATTERY
CHARGING LED illuminates green. Note: The AC wall
chargerdoesNOTautomaticallyshutoff.Monitorthecharge
time and be sure to disconnect the rear charger jack when
finished recharging the EC-4000-USB.
B. Charging the Emergency Car Starter in the vehicle:
ꢀ. AfterthevehicleisrunningandtheCHARGECARBATTERY
switch is in the OFF position (button up), simply plug the
EC-4000-USB’sꢀꢁVDCmaleadaptorplugintothevehicle’s
ꢀꢁV DC accessory outlet. When the INTERNAL BATTERY
CHARGING LED glows, the unit is being recharged by
the vehicle. Do not leave the EC-4000-USB connected to
the vehicle’s ꢀꢁV DC accessory outlet when the vehicle’s
engineisNOTrunning;theEC-4000-USBmaydischargethe
vehicle’s battery.

FUSE:
The EC-4000-USB comes with a ꢀꢁA fast-blow fuse located in
the end of the male adaptor plug. Replace only with a fuse of the
same size and rating. To replace the fuse simply un-screw the
metal tip of the male plug.
ACCESSORY OUTLET OUTPUT: ꢀꢁV DC 5 Amp maximum.
USB OUTLET OUTPUT: 5V DC 500mA maximum.
STORAGE: WHEN NOT IN USE, STORE IN AN AREA
WHERE THE TEMPERATURE RANGE IS BETWEEN 0–40ºC
(ꢂꢁ–ꢀ04ºF).
THE MALEADAPTOR PLUGAND CABLE SHOULD BE STORED
INSIDE THE COMPARTMENT TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL
DAMAGE. DO NOT USE THE CHARGER IF THE CABLES OR
PLUGS HAVE BEEN DAMAGED.
IT IS NORMAL FOR STARTER TO BECOME WARM DURING
OPERATION AND CHARGING.

Arranque de Automóvil en Emergencia
Este Arranque de Automóvil en Emergencia Schumacher
está destinado a arrancar una batería de automóvil o de
“power sport” débil de 12 voltios.
Este Arranque de Automóvil en Emergencia se destina para uso
en los automóviles y pequeños camiones a gasolina de 4 6 y 8
cilindros. No lo use en los sistemas eléctricos de 6 o 24 voltios
o vehículos a diesel. Este Arranque se destina a funcionar si el
arranque del vehículo hace “clic” o el motor arranca demasiado
lento para encender. Este producto no es para arrancar un ve-
hículo con una batería bien descargada ni para uso en baterías
cortocircuitadas o sulfatadas; tales baterías no retienen la carga

EL USO DEL ARRANQUE DE AUTOMÓVIL EN EMERGEN-
CIA EC-4000-USB SCHUMACHER COMO FUENTE DE
POTENCIA 12 VOLTIOS CC.
El Arranque en Emergencia tiene un tomacorriente para acceso-
rios de ꢀꢁV CC detrás de la capa derecha. Este puerto tiene un
terminal central positivo. La mayoría de los accesorios de ꢀꢁV CC
tienen esta configuración. No use el accesorio si no tiene patilla
central positiva. NUNCA meta el enchufe adaptador macho del
Arranque en Emergencia en el tomacorriente de accesorios de
ꢀꢁV en el lado derecho del Arranque en Emergencia.
EL USO DEL ARRANQUE DE AUTOMÓVIL EN EMERGEN-
CIA COMO FUENTE DE POTENCIA USB
El Arranque en Emergencia tiene un tomacorriente de potencia
USB de 5V CC al dorso de la caja que puede potenciar aparatos
que requieren menos de 500mA de potencia. NUNCA enchufe
este tomacorriente directamente en un tomacorriente USB de
computadora, pues puede causar daño a los dos aparatos.
Para activar el puerto de potencia USB, oprima el conmutador
CHARGE CAR BATTERY en la delantera de la unidad. Al ter-
minar de usar el puerto de potencia USB, oprima el conmutador
CHARGE CAR BATTERY hasta la posición OFF (botón subido)
antes de guardar el EC-4000-USB.
PARA ARRANCAR UN VEHÍCULO CON BATERÍA DÉBIL:
Importante: Mueva la llave de encendido, las luces, la radio, etc.
a la posición OFF (apagado) antes de conectar el Arranque de
Emergencia, para no drenar la potencia del EC-4000-USB:
ꢀ. Con el botón CHARGE CAR BATTERY (Cargue Batería del
Automóvil) en la posición OFF (botón subido), conecte el

enchufe macho del EC-4000-USB al tomacorriente de ac-
cesorios de ꢀꢁ V CC del vehículo.
2. El LED INTERNAL BATTERY CHARGING (Batería Interna
Cargando) y el LED en el enchufe macho del arranque deben
tornarserojos.SiestosLED’Snoseencienden,muevalallave
de encendido del auto a la posición Accessory (ACC). Si los
LEDs aún no se encienden, verifique si hay fusible malo en el
enchufe macho o en el panel de fusible del vehículo. Reem-
plácelo con uno del mismo tamaño y régimen de amperios.
ꢂ. Oprima el botón CHARGE CAR BATTERY para comenzar
el ciclo de cargar. El LED CAR BATTERY CHARGING (Bat-
ería de Auto Cargando) se torna rojo y el LED INTERNAL
BATTERY CHARGING se apaga. Si se enciende la radio,
el ventilador, las luces interiores o los foros, APÁGUELOS
INMEDIATAMENTE.
4. Cargue al menos por ꢀ0 minutos, o hasta que se encienda
el LED verde, antes de tratar de arrancar el vehículo y trate
de encenderlo. Si solo hace “clic” o enciende muy lento, siga
cargando la batería hasta que se ponga verde el LED CAR
BATTERY CHARGING o se haya alcanzado tiempo de carga
total de ꢁ0 minutos. En ese momento, intente un segundo
arranque del auto.
5. Cuando el auto encienda, oprima el conmutador CHARGE
CAR BATTERY a la posición OFF (botón subido).
6. Desconecteelenchufemachodeltomacorrientedeaccesorios
de ꢀꢁ V CC del vehículo.
7. Recargue el Arranque de Automóvil en Emergencia lo más
pronto posible.

RECARGUE DEL ARRANQUE DE AUTOMÓVIL EN
EMERGENCIA
El EC-4000-USB viene sin carga. Recomendamos que lo cargue
en seguida. Recárguelo después de cada uso y cada mes si no
se usa. Hay dos maneras de recargar:
A. Para cargar la batería interna del arranque con cargador
de pared CA:
ꢀ. Enchufe el adaptador del cargador de pared CA en el
receptáculo de cargar al dorso del arranque.
ꢁ. Enchufeelcargadordeparedenuntomacorrientedepared
de 120V CA. Se pone rojo el LED INTERNAL BATTERY
CHARGING.
ꢂ. Espere ꢀꢁ horas al cargar por primera vez. Las cargas
subsiguientes estarán completas cuando se pone verde el
LEDINTERNALBATTERYCHARGING.Nota:Elcargador
deparedCAnoseapagaautomáticamente.Vigileeltiempo
de carga y asegúrese de desconectar el enchufe al dorso
del cargador al terminar de recargar el EC-4000-USB.
B. Para cargar el Arranque de Automóvil en Emergencia
dentro del vehículo:
ꢀ. Después de que el vehículo esté funcionando y el inter-
ruptor CHARGE CAR BATTERY esté en la posición OFF
(botón subido), simplemente meta el enchufe adaptador
macho ꢀꢁV CC del EC-4000-USB en el tomacorriente de
accesorio ꢀꢁV CC del vehículo. Cuando se enciende el
LED INTERNAL BATTERY CHARGING, el vehículo está
recargandolaunidad.NodejeelEC-4000-USBconectado
al tomacorriente de accesorios ꢀꢁV CC del vehículo con
el motor apagado; el EC-4000-USB puede descargar la
batería del vehículo.

FUSIBLE:
El EC-4000-USB tiene un fusible de ꢀꢁA de acción rápida en el
extremo del enchufe adaptador macho. Reemplácelo solamente
con fusible del mismo tamaño y régimen. Para reemplazarlo,
desentornille la punta metálica del enchufe macho.
