• Do not install the refrigerator in a damp place or place where it may come in contact
with water.
- Deteriorated insulation of electrical parts may cause an electric shock or fire.
• Do not install this appliance in a humid, oily or dusty location, in a location exposed to
direct sunlight and water (rain drops).
• Do not place this refrigerator in direct sunlight or expose to the heat from stoves, room
heaters or other appliance.
• Do not plug several appliances into the same multiple power board. The refrigerator
should always be plugged into its own individual electrical board which has a voltage
rating that matched the rating plate.
- This provides the best performance and also prevents overloading house wiring circuits,
which could cause a fire hazard from overheated wires.

• In order to operate the ice maker properly, water pressure of 20~125 psi is required.
• This refrigerator must be properly installed and located in accordance with the manual
before it is used.
• Connect the power plug in proper position with the cord hanging down.
- If you connect the power plug upside down, the wire can get cut off and cause a fire or
electric shock.
• When moving the refrigerator, be careful not to roll over or damage the power cord.
- This constitutes a fire hazard.
• Make sure that the power plug is not squashed or damaged by the back of the refrigerator.
• Keep the packing materials out of reach of children.
- There is a risk of death from suffocation if children put them on their head.
• The appliance must be positioned so that the plug is accessible after installation.
• You need to remove all the protective plastic film before you initially plug in to use the
product.
• The Refrigerator must be safely grounded
- Always make sure that you have grounded the Refrigerator before attempting to investigate
or repair any part of the appliance. Power leakages can cause severe electric shock.

• Never use gas pipes, telephone lines or other potential lightning attractors as an electrical

- Improper use of the grounding plug can result in a risk of electric shock.
ꢀIf it is necessary to use an extension cord, use only a 3-wire extension cord that has a
3-blade grounding plug and a 3-slot receptacle that will accept the plug on the appliance.
The marked rating of the extension cord should be AC115-120V, 10A, or more.
If a grounding adapter is used, make sure the receptacle box is fully grounded.
• If the power cord is damaged, have it replaced immediately by the manufacturer or its
service agent.

If the air holes are blocked, especially with a plastic bag, the refrigerator can be over cooled.
If this cooling period lasts too long, the water filter may break and cause water leakage.

• If the refrigerator is disconnected from the power supply, you should wait for at least five
minutes before plugging it back.

If you have a long vacation planned or the refrigerator is not to be used for a long period of
time, you must empty the refrigerator and pull out the power plug and close the water valve.
- Deterioration in the insulation may cause fire.
- Otherwise, water leakage may occur.
• In the event of a power failure, call the local office of your Electricity Company and ask
how long it is going to last.

Most power failures that are corrected in an hour or two will not affect your refrigerator
temperatures. However, you should minimize the number of door openings while the power is off.
- But should the power failure last more than 24hours, remove all frozen food.
• Unplug the power plug during a thunder/lightning storm.
• Wipe excess moisture from the inside and leave the doors open.
- Otherwise, odor and mold may develop.
• To get best performance of product,
- Do not place foods too closely in front of the vents at the rear of the appliance as it can
obstruct free air circulation in the refrigerator compartment.
- Wrap the food up properly or place it in airtight containers before putting it into the
refrigerator.
- Do not store food which goes bad easily at low temperature, such as bananas, melons.
- Use only the ice maker provided with the refrigerator.
- Your appliance is frost free, which means there is no need to manually defrost your
appliance, as this will be carried out automatically.
- Temperature of frozen food during defrosting can shorten its storage life.
- The appliance might not operate consistently (possibility of defrosting of contents or
temperature becoming too warm in the frozen food compartment) when sited for an
extended period of time below the cold end of the range of temperature for which the
refrigerating appliance is designed.
- Temperature rising during the defrost can comply ISO requirement. But if you want to
prevent an undue rise in the temperature of the frozen food while defrosting the appliance,
please wrap the frozen in several layers of newspaper.
- The fuse on refrigerator must be changed by a qualified technician or service company.

GETTING READY TO INSTALL THE REFRIGERATOR
Congratulations on the purchase of your Samsung Side-By-Side Refrigerator. We hope you will enjoy the many
state-of-the-art features and efficiencies that this new appliance has to offer.
Selecting the best location for the refrigerator
• Select a location with easy access to the water supply.
• Select a location without direct exposure to sunlight.
• Select a location with level (or nearly level) flooring.
• Select a location with enough space for the refrigerator doors to open easily.
• Allow sufficient space to install the refrigerator on a flat surface.
- If your refrigerator is not level, the internal cooling system may not work correctly.

When moving your refrigerator
To prevent floor damage, be sure the front leveling legs are in the up
position (above the floor). Refer to ‘Leveling the refrigerator’ in the
manual (page 17).
To protect the finish of the flooring, place a protection sheet, such as
packing carton under the refrigerator.
When installing, servicing or cleaning behind the refrigerator,

SETTING UP THE REFRIGERATOR
Now that you have your new Refrigerator installed in place, you are ready to set up and enjoy the features and
functions of the appliance. By completing the following steps, your Refrigerator should be fully operational.
If not, first check the power supply and electricity source or try the troubleshooting section at the back of
this user’s guide. If you have any further questions, contact your Samsung Electronics service center.
1. Place the Refrigerator in an appropriate location with reasonable clearance between the wall and the
Refrigerator. Refer to installation instructions in this manual.
2. Once the Refrigerator is plugged in, make sure the interior light comes on when you open the doors.
3. Set the Temperature control [Refer to ‘Freezer/Fridge(Temperature adjustment)’, page 23] to the coldest
temperature and wait for an hour. The Freezer will get slightly chilled and the motor will run smoothly.
4. After powering the Refrigerator, it will take a few hours to reach the appropriate temperature. You can
store food and drinks in the Refrigerator after the temperature is sufficiently cool.
5. Assemble the water line to the refrigerator and verify that the couplers are correctly assembled without
water leakage. (Refer to ‘Installing the water line’, page 20)

1. Take the handles out from the right side door.
The handles are included in the package.
2. Check if the word “UP” on the rear of the handle is facing right side up.

3. Match the upper and lower handle locking tabs on the doors to the handles.
4. Fix the handles to the doors by sliding it down firmly until you hear a click sound.
5. Check the installation of the handles by pulling on them. If the handles have been inserted
correctly, they should not move. Ensure the 2 handles are horizontally aligned.
If the handles are not aligned, repeat step 2 and 3. To align the doors, refer to ‘Leveling the refrigerator’
in the manual(page 17).

If your entrance won’t allow the refrigerator to pass easily through it, you can remove the doors.

Removing the freezer door
A few things to mention first.

Place doors on a protected surface to prevent scratching or damage.

LEVELING THE REFRIGERATOR
Now that the doors are back on the refrigerator, you want to make sure the refrigerator is level so that you can
make final adjustments. If the refrigerator is not level, it will not be possible to get the doors perfectly even.
The front of the refrigerator is also adjustable.
Before leveling the refrigerator, remove the front leg cover
Open both the freezer and fridge doors, and then take off the front leg cover by turning the three
screws counter-clockwise.
When the Freezer part is lower than the Fridge part.
Insert a flat-blade screwdriver into a slot on the Freezer Leg, then turn it clockwise.
When the Fridge part is lower than the Freezer part.

MAKING MINOR ADJUSTMENTS TO THE DOORS
Remember, a level refrigerator is necessary for getting the doors perfectly even. If you need help, review the
previous section on levelling the refrigerator.
When the door of the freezer is higher
than the fridge

CHECKING THE WATER DISPENSER LINE
A water dispenser is one of the helpful features on your new Samsung Refrigerator. To help promote better
health, the Samsung water filter removes unwanted particles from your water. However, it does not sterilize or
destroy microorganisms. You may need to purchase a water purifying system to do that.
In order for the ice maker to operate properly, a water pressure of 20~125 psi (pound per square inch) is
required. Under normal conditions, a 170 cc (5.75 oz.) paper cup can be filled in 10 seconds.
If the Refrigerator is installed in an area with low water pressure (below 20psi), you can install a booster pump to
compensate for the low pressure.
After installing the water dispenser line, make sure the water storage tank inside the Refrigerator is properly
filled. To do this, press the water dispenser lever until the water runs from the water outlet.
Water line installation kits are available at extra cost from your dealer. We recommend using a water supply
kit that contains copper tubing.
Connecting to the water supply line
1. First, shut off the main water supply line.
2. Locate the nearest cold, drinking water line.
3. After complete the water supply installation (Water Line & Filter), turn your main water supply
back on and flush 3 gallons(Flush approximately 6 minutes) into a bucket to clear and prime
the water filter.

INSTALLING THE WATER LINE
Connecting the water line to the Refrigerator.
There are several items that you need to purchase to complete this connection.
You may find these items sold as a kit at your local hardware store.

1. Slip the compression nut through the supplied plastic tubing
.
2. Tighten the compression nut onto the 1/4” compression fitting.
- If you are using copper tubing, slip the compression nut (not included) and ferrule (not included)
on copper tubing (not included) as shown.
- If you are using plastic tubing , insert the molded end(Bulb) of the plastic tubing into the
compression fitting.
Do not use without the molded end(Bulb) of the plastic tubing .

3. Tighten the compression nut onto the compression fitting. Do not over-tighten the compression nut
.
4. Turn water on and check for any leakage.
Only connect the water line to a drinkable water source.
If you have to repair or disassemble the water line, cut off 1/4” of the plastic tubing to make sure
you get a snug, leak-free connection.

Removing residual matter inside the water supply line after installing filter
1. Turn ON the main water supply.
2. Press the Water button and push the dispenser pad.
Refer to ‘Checking the control panel’ in the manual (page 22)

3. Flush 3 gallons of water through the filter befor use.
(Flush approximately 6 minutes.)
This will clean the water supply system and remove air from the lines.
4. Additional flushing may be required in some households.
5. Open the refrigerator door and make sure there are no water leaks coming
from the water filter.
A newly installed water filter cartridge may cause water
to briefly spurt from the water dispenser. This is due to air
getting into the line. It should pose no problem to operation.
LOCK
Check the amount of water supplied to the ice tray.
1. Lift up the icemaker cover and gently pull it out.
2. When you press the Test button for 3 seconds, the ice cube container is filled with water from the
water supply tap. Check to make sure the amount of water is correct(see the illustration below).
If the water level is too low, the ice cubes will be small. This is a water pressure problem from
within the main water pipes, not the refrigerator.

CAUTION
Water may overflow or ice jamming may occur.

Freezer/Fridge (Temperature adjustment)
Press the Freezer or Fridge button until the desired temperature is set.
For lower temperature, press the Freezer or Fridge button until more LED lights (coldest).
For higher temperature, press the Freezer or Fridge button until less LED lights (cold).
Each time you press the Freezer or Fridge button, temperature indicator will change in below order.

Lighting
This icon will light up when you activate the Lighting function. In this case, the dispenser light (under
the display) will be on constantly. If you would like the dispenser light to come on only when using the
dispenser, turn the Lighting function off by pressing the Lighting button.
Power Freeze
This icon will light up when you activate the Power Freeze function. Power Freeze function generates
cool air for 72 hours continuously and it makes the inside of the refrigerator cool faster. This function
is useful when you make ice more quickly. When you have enough, just press and hold the Freeze
(Hold 3 sec for Power Freeze) button again for 3 seconds to cancel the Power Freeze function.
When you use this function the energy consumption of the refrigerator may increase. Remember
to turn it off when you do not need it and return the freezer to your original temperature setting.
Child Lock
This icon will light up when you activate the Lock function. In this case, you will not be able to use the
control panel. If you press and hold the Energy Saver (Hold 3 sec for Child Lock) button again for
3 seconds, you will be able to use the control panel again.
Power Cool
This icon will light up when you activate the Power Cool function. Power Cool function is great for a
quick fridge cool down. If you activate the Power Cool function, inside temperature of the Fridge will
decrease for about two and a half hours.
Energy Saver
This icon will light up when you activate the Energy Saver function. The Energy Saver function is
automatically set to “ON” when power is supplied to the Refrigerator. If condensation occurs on the
doors, turn the Energy Saver function off.
In some places, water drop may be generated on the door part. In this case, it is recommended
to turn off the Energy saver function.

Filter Indicator
When the filter indicator light changes to red, it is time to change the filter. Typically this happens
about every 6 months.
The filter Indicator will be Blue when you initially insert the water filter.
The filter Indicator will be purple when you have used your water filter for 5 months.
The filter Indicator will be Red when you have used your water filter for 6 months.

This icon will light up when you activate the Water function.
Cubed Ice
, Crushed Ice
Enjoy cubed or crushed ice by selecting your preference from the digital control panel. The ice type
light indicates the type of ice that is currently chosen.
Ice Off
This icon will light up when you activate the Ice Off function. In this case, the ice will not be produced.
Canceling cooling off mode (Freezer/Fridge Temperature Indicator moving)
Cooling off function is for store display, and it makes the refrigerator not to generate cool air.

In case of Cooling off Mode, refrigerator may

1. Door Bin/Dairy Bin
Firmly grab the door bin with both hands and lift it up gently to
remove the door bin.
2. Shelves (Freezer/Fridge)
Remove the shelf by pulling the shelf out to the hole
point as shown at the right figure. And then remove it by
turning and lifting it up.
3. Drawer
Pull the drawers out fully then slightly
lift it up to remove the drawers.

Remove the Icemaker Bucket by lifting up and pulling it out

CLEANING THE REFRIGERATOR
Caring for your Samsung Side-By-Side Refrigerator prolongs the life of your appliance and helps keep it odor
and germ-free.
Cleaning the Interior
Clean the inside walls and accessories with a mild detergent and then
wipe dry with a soft cloth. You can remove the drawers and shelves for
a more thorough cleaning. Just make sure to dry them before putting
them back into place.
Cleaning the Exterior
Wipe the digital panel and display panel with a clean, soft cloth.
(Especially top part of the digital panel.) Spray water onto the cleaning
cloth instead of spraying directly on the surface of the refrigerator. This
helps ensure an even distribution of moisture to the surface. The doors,
handles and cabinet surfaces should be cleaned with a mild detergent
and then wiped dry with a soft cloth.
To keep your appliance looking its best, the exterior should be polished
once or twice a year.
Do not use Benzene, Thinner or Clorox™ for cleaning.
They may damage the surface of the appliance and can

Cleaning the rubber door seals
If the rubber door seals are dirty, the doors may not close properly,
and the refrigerator will not operate efficiently. Keep the door seals free of
grit or grime by cleaning the doors with a mild detergent and damp cloth.

Do not spray the refrigerator with water while it is plugged in,
as it may cause an electric shock. Do not clean the refrigerator with

CHANGING THE WATER FILTER
If the water filter indicator turns into red, filtering ability may decrease. Then you need to change the
water filter. Water filter is located on the bottom right side of the refrigerator.
1. Turn the water filter 90˚ counter-clockwise.
2. Pull the water filter from the filter housing.
3. Insert new water filter inside the filter housing.
4. Turn the new water filter 90˚ clockwise.
5. After changing the water filter, press Water button on the display part for 3 seconds and check if it
turns into blue.

making ice?
• Is the water line connected and the shut-off valve open?
• Did you manually stop the ice making function? Make sure Ice Type is set to
Cubed or Crushed.
• Is there any ice blocked within the ice maker bucket?
• Is the freezer temperature too warm? Try setting the freezer temperature lower.
You can hear water
bubbling in the
refrigerator.
• This is normal. The bubbling comes from the refrigerant coolant liquid
circulating through the refrigerator.
There is a bad smell in
the refrigerator.
• Has a food item spoiled?
• Make sure that strong smelling food (for example, fish) is wrapped so that it is
airtight.
• Clean out your freezer periodically and throw away any spoiled or suspect
food.
Frost forms on the walls
of the freezer.
• Is the air vent blocked? Remove any obstructions so air can circulate freely.
• Allow sufficient space between the foods stored for efficient air circulation.
• Is the freezer door closed properly?
Water dispenser is not
functioning.
• Is the water line connected and the shut-off valve open?
• Has the water supply line tubing been crushed or kinked? Make sure the
tubing is free and clear of any obstruction.
• Is the water tank frozen because the refrigerator temperature is too low?
Try selecting a warmer setting on the main display panel.

INSTALACION DE SU REFRIGERADOR
Ahora que tiene su nuevo refrigerador instalado y en su lugar, esta preparado para instalar y disfrutar de las
características y de las funciones del electrodoméstico. Terminando los pasos siguientes, su refrigerador debe
ser completamente operacional. Si no, el primer punto a revisar es la toma de electricidad o revise la sección de
solución de problemas en la parte final de este manual de usuario. Si usted tiene alguna otra pregunta, entre en
contacto con su centro de servicio de Samsung Electronics.
1. Coloque el refrigerador en un lugar apropiado con la separación razonable entre la pared y el refrigerador.
Revisar las instrucciones de instalación en este manual.
2. Una vez que conecte el refrigerador, cerciórese de que la luz interior encienda en cuando usted abre las puertas.
3. Observe el control de la temperatura y espere una hora. El congelador conseguirá enfriado levemente y el

5. Compruebe la instalación de las manijas tirando en ellas. Si las manijas se han insertado
correctamente, no deben moverse. Asegúrese que las 2 manijas se alinean horizontalmente.
Si las manijas no se alinean, repita el paso 2 y 3. Para alinear las puertas, refiérase a

CHEQUEO DE LA TOMA DE AGUA DEL DESPACHADOR
Un despachador es solo una de las caracteristicas útiles de su nuevo refrigerador Samsung. Para fomentar una
mejor salud, el filtro de agua Samsung elimina particulas no deseadas del agua. Sin embargo, no esteriliza ni
destruye microorganismos. Para lograr esto último debe de adquirir un sistema purificador de agua.
Para que la máquina de hielo funcione correctamente, es necesaria una presión de agua de 20~125 psi (libraspor
pulgada cuadrada). En condiciones normales, un vaso de 170 cc (5,75 onzas) debe llenarse en 10 segundos.
Si la zona de instalación del refrigerador dispone de una presión baja de agua (por debajo de 20 psi), puede
instalar una bomba auxiliar para compensar la falta de presión.
Después de instalar la tubería de suministro de agua, asegúrese de que el tanque de almacenamiento de agua
dentro del refrigerador se llene apropiadamente. Para realizar esto, presione la palanca del despachador de
agua hasta que corra el agua por la salida.
En su distribuidor encontrará disponibles kits de instalación para la toma de agua por un costo adicional.
Recomendamos usar un kit de suministro de agua que contenga tubos de cobre.
Conexión de la toma de suministro de agua
1. Primero, corte la toma de suministro de agua de la casa.

Este icono se encenderá cuando usted active la función de la Power Freezer. La función de la Power Freezer
genera aire fresco por 72 horas continuamente y hace que el interior del refrigerador este más fresco. Esta
función es útil cuando usted hace hielo rápidamente. Cuando usted tiene bastantes, mantenga presionado
el botón de Freezer (Hold 3 sec for Power Freezer) otra vez por 3 segundos para cancelar esta función.
Cuando usted use esta función el consumo de energía del refrigerador puede incrementarse.
Recuerdeapagar esta función cuando no la necesite y regrese el congelador a su temperatura establecida.
Child Lock
Este icono prendera cuando active la función de Lock. En este caso usted no podra usar el panel de

Power Cool
Este icono prendera cuando active la función de Power Cool. La función Power Cool es ideal para

disminuir alrededor de dos horas y media.
Energy Saver
Este icono se encenderá cuando usted active la función del ahorro de energía. La función del ahorro
de energía se fija automáticamente en “ON” cuando la energía se provee al refrigerador.
Si la condensación ocurre en las puertas, apague la función del ahorro de energía.
En algunas ocasiones, se puede presentar goteo de agua en las puertas. En este caso, se
recomienda apagar la función de ahorro de energía.

LIMPIANDO EL REFRIGERADOR
Cuidados para prolongar la vida de tu Refrigerador Samsung Side-By-Side y ayudar a mantenerlo libre de olor y
gérmenes.
Limpiando el Interior
Limpiar las paredes internas y accesorios con un detergente suave
y después secar con una prenda suave. Puedes quitar los cajones y
parrillas para un limpiado más exhaustivo. Asegúrate que estén secos
antes de ponerlos en su sitio.
Limpieza del Exterior
Limpia el panel digital y la pantalla con un trapo suave y limpio.

Si el indicador del filtro de agua cambia a rojo, la habilidad de filtrado disminuirá. Entonces necesitas
cambiar el filtro de agua. El filtro de agua es localizado al fondo del lado derecho del refrigerador.
1. Gira el filtro de agua 90° en sentido contrario a las manecillas del reloj.
2. Jala el filtro de agua de la carcasa del filtro.
3. Inserta el nuevo filtro de agua dentro de la carcasa del filtro.
4. Gira de nuevo el filtro de agua 90° en sentido de las manecillas del reloj.
5. Después de cambiar el filtro de agua, presiona el botón Water sobre la parte del display
por 3 segundos y verifica si cambia a azul.

reteniendo la circulación del aire?
• Verificar si la función de cooling off esta encendida. Si el indicador de
temperatura del Congelador/Refrigerador esta movido, regrese a la pag 24
para cancela la función de cooling off.

¿El control de temperatura en la pantalla del panel muestra la temperatura correcta?
Intenta colocar en una temperatura mas calida.
• ¿La temperatura en el compartimento es muy baja?
