This unit is splash-resistant and not designed to be used  
underwater. DO NOT SUBMERGE.  
1. Open cassette door, lift top cover and insert tape,  
exposed side up. Close door and put down top cover.  
2. Plug headphones into jack and set VOLUME to  
minimum level.  
This product should be serviced only by those specially  
trained in appropriate servicing techniques. For  
instructions on how to obtain service, refer to the  
warranty in this guide.  
Avoid exposing the unit to saltwater or salt spray.  
To ensure watertight seal of battery compartment,  
check to make sure the cabinet area around the  
compartment is free of dirt and water before  
opening. Be sure to close battery compartment cover  
firmly after installing batteries.

5. Set BASS BOOST and VOLUME at desired level.

before opening cassette door.  
7. Use FAST FORWARD button to quickly advance tape  
and REWIND button to quickly move tape backward.  
Always stop tape play before and after fast forwarding  
or rewinding.  
Cleaning the Heads: Iron oxide particles eventually  
build up on parts that touch the tape. This can cause a  
muffled sound. Use liquid head cleaner or a head  
cleaning tape to clean the heads.  
Caution/Care

Do not expose the unit to extreme temperatures, such as  
those caused by a hot stove or the inside of a car parked in  
the summer sun. Such conditions can damage the unit.  
Always clean with a soft cloth, dampened with water only.

1. Use up (+) and down (-) buttons to tune in radio  
stations. Display will show active frequency.  
2. To scan through frequencies, press up (+) or  
down (-) button momentarily. When a clear signal is  
captured, scanning will automatically stop. To  
manually stop scanning, press up (+) or down (-)  
button again.

To set correct time

2. Press MODE twice until displayed time blinks.  
3. Within 10 seconds, set correct time using HOUR

PRESET TUNING  
This unit can store up to 10 preset stations - AM or FM -  
in memory.  
Pay any charges billed to you by the Exchange  
Center for service not covered by the warranty.  
A new or refurbished unit will be shipped to you  
prepaid freight.  
Battery Installation  
To set alarm  
1. Slide RADIO/TAPE switch to TAPE. Time will show in

now stored. After 5 seconds, MEMORY disappears

4. To store more than 5 stations, press MEM and then  
the +5 button. MEMORY will blink and +5 will show  
in the display.  
5. Press any preset button 1-5 to store stations at a  
desired preset 6-10.  
6. Slide the FM MONO/STEREO switch located behind  
the cassette door to STEREO to turn FM stereo on.

batteries are not replaced at the same time; if  
disposed of in fire; or if an attempt is made to  
charge a battery not intended to be recharged.  
Discard leaky batteries immediately to avoid possible  
skin burns or other personal injury.  
To use alarm  
1. Press ALARM once. ALARM ON shows in display. Unit  
will beep at preset alarm time.

Pressing ALARM button more than once turns  
off alarm. The preset alarm time will remained  
stored and can be reactivated by pressing  
ALARM button again.

How state law relates to this warranty:  
If the reception of an FM station transmitting in stereo is  
weak, the STEREO indicator might fade in and out on the  
display. Adjusting the headphone cord may help. If not,  
slide the FM MONO/STEREO switch to MONO to improve  
reception. In doing so, realize that you will no longer be  
listing to that station in stereo.  
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and  
you may have other rights which vary from state  
to state.  
Alarm is louder when cassette door is open.  
If you bought this product outside the USA:  
headphones are in place.  
This warranty does not apply. Contact your dealer  
for warranty information.  
2. Press ALARM OFF button to turn alarm beep off.  
NOTE: The unit will continue to beep for 10  
minutes if the ALARM OFF button is not  
pressed.  
Recalling presets  
To access preset stations 1-5, press buttons 1-5. To access  
preset stations 6-10, press +5 and then a button 1-5.

To reset all the settings (time, alarm, and preset stations)  
to default mode, press the RESET button with a pointed  
instrument.  
The headphone cord serves as the FM antenna. Because  
this antenna is directional, repositioning can improve  
reception.  
NOTE: Stored memory items will be retained  
for a short time after battery removal.  
Prolonged storage without batteries will result  
in loss of preset stations, alarms and time.  
The built-in AM antenna is somewhat directional. It may  
be necessary to slightly rotate the unit to strengthen  
weak AM signals.
