Fuseamplifier's powerwireatthebattery.
Be sure t o f use t he power wire wit hin 12" of t he car' s bat t ery. This will prot ect t he car' s
bat t ery in case of a short circuit bet ween t he power amplif ier and bat t ery. THI S I S A MUST,
t he amplif ier' s built -in f use will only prot ect t he power amplif ier not t he car' s bat t ery!
Usehighgradewireconnectors.
To ensure maximum power t ransfer and secure safe connect ions, it is recommended t o use high
grade barrier spades (for connect ion at amplifier) and t erminal rings (for connect ion at bat t ery).
Donotrunanywiresunderneath vehicle.
Exposed wires have a chance of being cut or damaged. I t is best t o run all wires t hrough t he
vehicle under t he carpet and/ or side panels. This lends t o a cleaner inst allat ion and less risk of
damage.
Usecautionwhenmountingamplifier.
Remember t here are many elect rical wires, gas lines, vacuum lines, brake lines as well as a gas
t ank in t he aut omobile. Make sure you know where t hey are when mount ing t he amplif ier
t o avoid punct uring lines, short ing wires or drilling holes in t he gas t ank.
Runsignalwiresawayfromelectrical wires.
To avoid possibilit y of induced noise f rom t he car' s elect rical syst em (i.e. popping noises or
engine noise), run wires away f rom t he car' s elect rical wiring.
Makeallgroundwiresasshort aspossibleandatthesame point.
I n order t o reduce t he chance of ground loops (i.e. engine noise), make t he grounding wire as
short as possible t o reduce t he wire' s resist ance. Also, when using mult iple component s, make
sure all unit s are grounded at t he s ame point .
Avoidsharpedgeswhenrunningthe wires.
To avoid t he possibilit y of power, signal or speaker short s, be caref ul not t o allow t he amplif iers
wires t o come in cont act wit h sharp edges. Use a grommet t o prot ect t he wire when running

t runk or under t he seat .
Select t he locat ion in which you wish t o mount t he amplif ier. Use caution when mounting
amplifier, there are many wires, gas lines, vacuum lines, brake lines as well as a gas tank in
the automobile. Make sure you know where they are when mounting the amplifier to avoid
puncturing lines, shorting wires or drilling holes in the gas tank. Once you are ready, use a
pencil t o mark t he mount ing holes in t he bot t om panel. Af t er you have marked t he locat ions of

inst allat ion is complet ed t o avoid possible damage t o t he elect rical syst em.
Connect the amplifier to the car's battery.
At t imes, t he amplif ier will need t o draw large levels of current t hat cannot be provided by any
circuit in t he car' s f use box. We recommended using an 10 t o 12 gauge power wire f or your
connect ions depending on t he amplif ier and lengt h of t he wire. St rip one end of t he wire t o
connect t o t he t erminal on t he amplif ier marked +12V. Loosen screw t erminal and connect
bare wire and t ight en. Use caut ion t o make sure no st ray wire st ands come in cont act wit h
surrounding t erminals causing short circuit s. Run t he wire direct ly t o t he posit ive t erminal of
t he car' s bat t ery. Make sure t o use an in-line f use wit hin 12" of t he car' s bat t ery t o prot ect
t he elect rical syst em and amplif ier against short circuit s and/ or power surges.
Connect the ground terminal of the amplifier to the car's chassis.
For t he ground connect ion, use an 10-12 gauge wire (black) t o connect t o t he t erminal marked
GND and t hen connect it t o t he car' s chassis. Try t o keep t he lengt h of t he cable as short as
possible, pref erably less t han 6". Also make sure t hat t he point on t he car where t he
connect ion is t o be made is f ree of paint and dirt .
Connect the remote terminal of the amplifier to a switchable +12V source.
This connect ion allows t he amplif ier t o be t urned on and of f wit h t he power cont rol of t he
radio. I f t he radio has a Remot e out put wire, connect it t o t he amplif ier' s t erminal marked
REM (using a 16 gauge wire or heavier). Now when t he radio is t urned on, t he amplif ier will
aut omat ically t urn on. This connect ion can also be made t o t he radio' s Power Ant enna wire.

SPEAKER CONNECTI ONS
Make the speaker connections using speaker wire that is at least 14 gauge or
heavier.
As wit h any audio component , proper phasing of t he amplif ier and speakers is essent ial f or
st rong bass response. When connect ing, make sure t hat posit ive (+) f rom t he amplif ier is
connect ed t o t he posit ive (+) of t he speaker, and t he same f or negat ive (-).

SPEAKER CONNECTI ONS (BRI DGED)
The Baja amplif iers are capable of being bridged in a mono conf igurat ion. This f eat ure allows
you t he f lexibilit y of using t he amplif ier t o drive a ** subwoof er or a cent er channel. I n t his
conf igurat ion t he amplif ier sums t he right and lef t channel t o deliver one channel (mono)

Please not e: in order f or t he amplif ier t o sum right and lef t signal inf ormat ion, bot h right and
lef t RCA connect ions must be made.
**CAUTION! I n t he bridged mode, t he amplif ier must see a 4 Ohm load or higher. Any
lower t han 4 Ohms will cause t he amplif ier t o overheat and possibly cause permanent
damage t o t he amplif ier!

FI NE TUNE THE SYSTEM
Fine tune the amplifier's input sensitivity.
Access t o t he gain sensit ivit y cont r ol f or t he Baja
amplif ier is locat ed on t he side panel. This gain cont rol has
been included t o allow adjust ment t o properly mat ch t he
out put of t he radio. This is one of t he most misunderst ood
adjust ment s. By rot at ing t he cont rol in t he clockwise
direct ion, t he amplif ier' s input will become more sensit ive and
t he music will play louder. This is not a volume cont rol and you will not get more power out of
t he amplif ier in t he maximum posit ion! I t may seem t o deliver more out put , but act ually t he
syst em is only playing louder f ast er as you t urn t he volume cont rol on t he radio. I deally, t o
properly level mat ch t he syst em t he goal is t o achieve maximum out put f rom t he amplif ier
wit hout dist ort ion at about 3/ 4 of t he volume cont rol.
To det ermine if t he amplif ier' s gain is set properly, t urn t he syst em on and slowly increase t he
volume cont rol. You should be able t o use about 3/ 4 volume bef ore t he syst em get s loud but
not dist ort ing. I t is very import ant when making t hese adjust ment s t hat you do not over drive
t he speakers (at point of dist ort ion) t his will cause permanent damage t o t he speakers. I f you
are unable t o achieve 3/ 4 volume bef ore dist ort ion you will need t o adj ust gain cont rol (in t his
case you would reduce t he gain). The gain cont rols should be adjust ed very slowly. I t may help
t o have anot her person t o assist you by adjust ing t he gain cont rols while you list en f or
dist ort ion.

TROUBLE SHOOTI NG THE SYSTEM
We have put t oget her t his t rouble-shoot ing guide if you experience problems af t er inst alling
t he amplif ier. Please keep in mind t hat t he majorit y of problems incurred are caused by
improper inst allat ion and not t he equipment it self . I n addit ion, t here are many component s in
t he syst em t hat could cause various signal problems such as induct ed elect rical noise and
engine noise.
Bef ore you can properly address t he problem, you must f irst f ind t he component t hat is
