V3TM Technology
For the more common everyday transient surges and spikes that are most commonly caused by
household appliances turning on and off, Theatre Director uses an advanced type of MOV (metal
oxide varistor). This new type of MOV provides greater capacity to absorb surges and spikes, as well
as better energy dissipation. The result is a more efficient, longer lasting surge protector.
Clear Connect Power Conditioning
The electrical current running through your home is filled with impurities referred to as
electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI), which are caused by
household appliances and electronics. If left alone, these impurities can show up in your home
theater system in the form of picture or sound distortion and degradation. Our Clear Connect power
conditioning technology purifies the electrical current before it reaches your sensitive components.
This filtering process reduces EMI and RFI noise by up to 85 decibels (dB), among the highest level of
noise filtration available today, keeping your equipment safe, picture sharp and sound crisp.
Always-on AC Outlets
Each model of Theatre Director is equipped with two AC outlets that are always on – regardless
of the position of the main power switch. These outlets are useful for components that require a
constant source of power to maintain programmed settings, such as a VCR, DVR, TiVoTM, etc. While
these outlets are not controlled by the main power switch, they are still protected by s-OV and V3
technologies.
Switched AC Outlets
The remaining AC outlets (number varies by model) are powered on and off with the main power
switch on the front panel. All components connected to these outlets can be powered on and off at
the same time by simply pressing the main power switch on the front panel.
Coaxial Cable Protection
Depending on the model, Theatre Director includes either 2, 3 or 4 sets (see feature chart page 4) of
gold-plated coaxial cable protection. These connectors are useful protecting components that have
incoming coaxial cables connected to them, such as satellite dishes, cable boxes, antennas, etc.
RJ45 Networking Protection
Should your home theater system incorporate incoming RJ45 networking cables, such as a media
server or HDTV monitor with broadband web access, Theatre Director’s RJ45 protection will keep
the connected equipment safe from surges that can potentially enter through the incoming RJ45
network cable (not available on model SPP4200).

RJ11 Modem/Phone Line Protection
As with incoming coaxial or RJ45 networking lines, surges can also enter your system through
standard RJ11 phone lines. Some A/V components, such as digital satellite receivers, DVRs, TiVoTM,
etc., require connection to a phone line. Theatre Director will protect your equipment from surges
coming through this line too. In addition, should your system incorporate more than one component
that requires a phone line connection, we included a 1-in / 2-out phone line splitter.
Grounding Lug
The grounding lug provides a common grounding point for components with separate ground
leads, such as turntables.
Resettable Circuit Breaker
To prevent Theatre Director from possible overload damage, we have included a resettable circuit
protector. The circuit breaker will only trip if the total current draw of all connected equipment
exceeds 15 amps. Should this occur, the unit is most likely overloaded. Please unplug at least one
component from Theatre Director before resetting the circuit breaker.
Rack-mount Brackets
The included adjustable rack-mount brackets will allow you to mount Theatre Director into an A/V
rack system should you desire to do so. To adjust the depth of the front panel in the rack system,
simply align the rack-mount bracket holes on the side panels of Theatre Director’s cabinet with the
corresponding holes on the brackets. Be sure to tighten the screws securely to prevent unexpected
movement.
8ft. Power Cord with Right-angle Plug and Off-set Cord
The extra long 8ft. power cord allows you to place Theatre Director in the most convenient location
possible – right next to the components it has been designed to protect. This also allows the use of
shorter coaxial, RJ45 and RJ11 cables to connect your components, which reduces cluttered cables.
The right-angle plug allows you to place your home theater system cabinet closer to the wall than
standard surge protectors will allow.
The off-set cord allows you to plug Theatre Director into the top outlet of a two-outlet receptacle
without blocking the lower outlet.

Front Panel Indicators
A series of intelligent LED indicators on the front panel of Theatre Director keep you informed of the
power status at all times. The red light lets you know that the surge protection function is ready
in the event it is needed. The green light lets you know that your electrical system is wired and
grounded properly. The range of blue lights let you know what your current input voltage level is.
The main power switch, also located on the front panel, turns power on and off to all switched AC
outlets. This single switch can be used to conveniently power on and off all components plugged
into the switched outlets with the touch of one button.
Connecting Your Equipment
ꢂ. Place Theatre Director in the desired location of your home theater system. Attach the rack-
mount brackets, if desired, as described in the “Rack-mount Brackets” section of the Features
above.
ꢁ. Plug the A/V components – that do not require a constant power source – into the switched
AC outlets. These components can be powered on and off simultaneously with the main power
switch on the front panel of Theatre Director.
ꢃ. Plug the A/V components that do require a constant power source (i.e., VCR, DVR, TiVoTM, etc.)
into the always-on AC outlets. Power to these components will not be controlled by the main
power switch on the front panel of Theatre Director.
ꢀ. As needed, connect the incoming coaxial, RJ45 networking and RJ11 phone lines to the
corresponding IN jacks.
ꢄ. Connect additional coaxial, RJ45 networking and RJ11 phone line cables from the OUT jacks on
Theatre Director to the corresponding inputs on the A/V components.
6. Plug the main power cord into a standard 110V AC outlet.
7. Press the main power switch on the front panel – the switch will illuminate blue when power
is on.
8. Operate the home theater system per the instructions supplied with the components.
