IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Radio Interference
Radio interference may occasionally cause buzzing and humming in
your cordless handset, or clicking noises in the base. This interference
is caused by an external source such as a TV, refrigerator, vacuum
cleaner, fluorescent lighting, or electrical storm. Your unit is NOT
DEFECTIVE. If these noises continue and are too distracting, please
check around your home to see what appliances may be causing the
problem. In addition, we recommend that the base not be plugged into
a circuit that also powers a major appliance because of the potential for
interference. Be certain the antenna is kept in the vertical position.
In the unlikely event that you consistently hear other voices or
distracting transmissions on your phone, you may be receiving radio
signals from another cordless telephone or other source of interference.
If you cannot eliminate this type of interference, you need to change to
a different channel.
Finally, it should be noted that some cordless telephones operate at
frequencies that may cause interference to nearby TVs and VCRs. To
minimize or prevent such interference, the base of the cordless
telephone should not be placed near or on top of a TV or VCR. If
interference is experienced, moving the cordless telephone farther
away from the TV or VCR will often reduce or eliminate
the interference.
More Than One Cordless Telephone
If you want to use more than one cordless telephone in your home,
they must operate on different channels. Press the channel key to select
a channel that provides the clearest communication.

INSTALLATION CONSIDERATIONS
Selecting a Location
Before choosing a location for your new phone, there are some
important guidelines you should consider:
• The location should be close to both a phone jack and continuous power
outlet. (A continuous power outlet is an AC outlet which does not have
a switch to interrupt its power.)
• Keep the base and handset away from
sources of electrical noise such as motors or
fluorescent lighting.
• Be sure there is sufficient space to fully
extend the base antenna.
• The base can be placed on a desk or tabletop
or mounted on a standard AT&T or GTE
wall plate.
• You should charge your new phone for 15-20 hours before completing
the installation or using the handset.
Telephone Line Outlets
There are two types of phone outlets:
M Modular Jack
Most phone equipment available now uses modular jacks. Phone cords
are fitted with a molded plastic connector which plugs into this type of
jack. If you do not have modular phone jacks, contact your local
telephone company for information about their installation.
M Hardwired Jack
Some equipment is wired directly to a phone jack, and these types of
installations require a modular jack converter. This type of installation
is not difficult; however, you should contact your local telephone
dealer or a telephone supply store for advice about the proper adapter
or converter for your particular situation.

Connecting the Telephone Cords
Consider these safety guidelines before connecting the
telephone cords:
Place the power cord so that
it does not create a trip
hazard or where it could
become chafed and create
an electrical hazard
or fire.
Caution!
• Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
• Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the
telephone line has been disconnected.
• Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.
Applying Power to the Base
This phone requires an AC outlet, without a switch to interrupt power,
and the included AC adapter. To relieve strain on the DC plug when the
phone is placed on a desk or table, wrap the power cord around the
strain relief notch on the bottom of the base.
HINT
Before using your phone,
fully charge the Nickel-
Cadmium battery pack for
15-20 hours.
ADAPTER SAFETY FEATURES
If the AC adapter furnished with this phone has a polarized line plug (a
plug having one blade wider than the other), this plug will fit into the
power outlet only one way. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into
the outlet, try reversing the plug.
Do not alter the shape of the
blades of the polarized plug!

M Direct Wall Mounting
If you don’t have a standard wall plate, you can mount your phone
directly to the wall. Before mounting your cordless telephone, consider
the following:
• Select a location away from electrical cables, pipes, or other items
behind the mounting location. Inserting screws into areas such as this
can be hazardous.
• Try to mount your phone within 10 - 15 feet of a working phone jack in
order to avoid excessive cord length. Remember, you are not mounting
your phone to a wall plate with a built-in phone jack.
• If the selected mounting area has no wooden support beams directly
behind it, you will need the appropriate anchoring devices in order for
the wall to properly support your phone.

CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK
M Initial battery charging
Before plugging the phone line into your new phone for the first time,
fully charge the rechargeable battery pack for 15-20 hours
without interruption.
1) Place the handset on the base.
2) Make sure that STATUS LED lights.
If the LED doesn’t light, check to
see that the AC adapter is plugged
in and that the handset makes
good contact with the base
charging contacts.
M Low battery indicator
When the battery pack is very low and needs to be charged, the phone
is programmed to eliminate functions in order to save power. The
handset beeps. Complete your conversation as quickly as possible and
return the handset to the base for charging.
CLEANING THE BATTERY CONTACTS
To maintain a good charge, clean all charging contacts on the handset
and base about once a month with a pencil eraser or other contact
cleaner. DO NOT use liquids or solvents; you may damage your phone.

ADJUSTING THE RINGER AND VOLUME CONTROLS
M Handset Ringer Tone and Volume
Your MPH 6928 lets you choose from
two ringer tones, Type A and Type B.
Each tone has a low and high volume

setting. When the phone is in standby
mode, press the L or M key on the handset to select the handset
ringer tone and volume. As you change the settings, the selection appears
on the LCD.
M Handset Earpiece Volume
The MPH 6928 comes with four volume settings for the handset
earpiece - normal, medium, high and loud.
During a call, press L to increase
the earpiece volume, press M to
decrease the earpiece volume. As you
increase or decrease the volume, your selection
appears on the LCD.

AUTOMATIC DIGITAL CODE SECURITY
To prevent other parties from making unauthorized calls on your
phone line, a digital code was added to the MPH 6928. Your phone’s
handset and base share this code, which is randomly set each time you
place the handset in the charging cradle.
To reestablish communication between the handset and the base in the
event of a power failure:
1) Restore power to the base.
2) Place the handset on the base and press PAGE.
3) Pick up the handset from the base.
4) Return the handset to the base. The STATUS LED blinks to indicate that
the digital security code is reset.

CHAIN DIALING
On certain occasions after dialing a number, you may be requested to
enter an access code, such as your account number. You can enter this
number into a memory location for later use by doing the following.
1) Store the access code into one of the memory locations (0-9). See
“Storing A Phone Number in Memory” (page 22).
2) Dial the party or service main number.
3) When you need to enter the special number, press MEM followed by
the memory location (0-9).
USING CALLER ID
You must subscribe to Caller ID from your phone company in
order to use this feature.
M Setting Up Caller ID Options
There are three Caller ID setup options available; Autotalk, CIDCW, and
Area Code.
AutoTalk allows you to answer the phone without pressing the TALK
button. If the phone rings when Autotalk is on, simply remove the
handset from the cradle and the phone automatically answers the call.
If the phone rings when Autotalk is off, you must press TALK to answer
the call. This option is useful to help you screen your calls
more effectively.
CIDCW (Caller ID on Call Waiting) performs the same as regular Caller
ID on a call waiting number. You must subscribe to CIDCW from your
phone company in order to use this feature.
If you enter your 3-digit area code number in the Area Code option,
your local area code does not appear in Caller ID messages. When
reviewing Caller ID messages, you will see only the local seven digit
number. For calls received from outside your local area code, you will
see a full 10-digit number.
NOTE
You must subscribe to
CIDCW from your phone
company in order to use
this feature.
If your calling area requires 10-digit dialing, do
not program this option.

If you encounter interference while
using your phone, you can manually
change the channel for clearer
operation. This function works only
when the phone is in use.

During the course of a conversation, if
you hear static or noise which makes it
difficult to hear, press CHAN. The
following screen appears and the phone
changes to a different channel.

TRAVELING OUT-OF-RANGE
During a call, as you begin to move too far from your base unit, noise
increases. If you pass the range limits of the base unit, your call will
terminate within 20 seconds.

If your phone is not performing to your expectations, please try these
simple steps.

Interferencia de Radio
Las interferencias de radio pueden, ocasionalmente, ocasionar ruidos en su
microteléfono sin cordón o en la base del mismo. Esta interferencia puede ser
causada por una fuente externa, como un televisor, el refrigerador, una
aspiradora de polvo, una bombilla de luz fluorescente o una tormeta eléctrica.
ESO NO SIGNIFICA QUE SU TELEFONO ESTE DEFECTUOSO. Si los ruidos
prosiguieran y resultaran enojosos, recorra su casa para determinar qué
aparato eléctrico está causando el problema. Es aconsejable también que la
base no esté conectada a un circuito al que esté conectado también un aparato
importante, pues éste puede ser fuente de interferencia. Asegúrese de que la
antena esté en posición vertical.
En el improbable evento de que escuche regularmente voces o conversaciones
ajenas en su teléfono, lo más probable es que esté recibiendo señales de radio
de otro teléfono sin cordón. Si no puede eliminar este tipo de interferencia,
tendrá que cambiar para otro canal.
Finalmente, debemos señalar que algunos teléfonos sin cordón operan a
frecuencia que pudieran interferir en aparatos de televisión o videocinta
cercanos. Para reducir al mínimo o evitar del todo esa interferencia, la base del
teléfono sin cordón no debe estar cercana o arriba de un aparato de televisión
o videocinta. Si se produjera esa interferencia, bastaría con alejar el teléfono
del televisor o el aparato de videocinta para reducir o eliminar por completo la
interferencia.
Mas de un Telefono Inalambrico
Si quiere usar más de un teléfono inalambrico en su casa, éstos deben operar a
diferentes canales. Oprima la tecla del canal para seleccionar el que le permita
la comunicación más clara.

CONSIDERACIONES SOBRE LA INSTALACION
Selección del Lugar de Instalación
Antes de decidir el lugar donde instalar su nuevo teléfono, hay algunas
importantes pautas que debe considerar.
• El lugar debe estar próximo a una conexión de la línea telefónica y a un
tomacorriente. (Una toma de corriente alterna que no tenga un dispositivo
para interrupir la corriente.)
• Mantenga la base y el microteléfono lejos de fuentes de ruido producidos por
electricidad, tales como motores o luces fluorescentes.
• Asegúrese de tener suficiente espacio para
poder extender por completo la antena.
• La base puede ser colocada en un buró o
mesa o montada en una instalación
standard AT&T o GTE.
• El nuevo teléfono debe ser cargado durante
15-20 horas antes de completar la instalación
o usar el microteléfono.
Tomas de lineas telefónicas
Hay dos tipos de tomas telefónicas:
M Jack Modular
La mayoría de los equipos telefónicos usan ahora un jack modular. Los
cordones del teléfono se encuentran en un conector plástico que entra en este
tipo de jack. Si usted no tiene un jack modular para el teléfono, debe ponerse
en contacto con su compañía telefónica local a fin de que le dé información
sobre la instalación.
M Jack de Alambrado Directo
Algunos equipos van conectados directamente a un jack telefónico, y estos

Este teléfono tiene que estar conectado a una toma de corriente alterna, que

cuando el teléfono se encuentra en un buró o mesa, envuelva el cable de la

M Instalación Directa en la Pared
Si no cuenta con una placa standard en la pared, puede instalar el teléfono
directamente en la pared. Pero antes de instalar su teléfono inalámbrico debe
considerar lo siguiente:
• Escoja un lugar lejos de cables eléctricos, tuberías de agua u otras instalaciones
que puedan encontrarse detrás del lugar escogido. La colocación de clavos o
tornillos en lugares como ésos puede ser peligroso.
• Trate de colocar su teléfono a no más de 3 a 5 metros del jack telefónico, para
evitar que el cable sea demasiado largo. Recuerde que no está instalando su
teléfono en una placa con un jack telefónico ya preparado.
• Si el área de instalación seleccionada no tiene vigas de madera en su parte
posterior, tendrá que instalar adecuados sistemas de fijación en la pared para
fijar el teléfono.
1) Coloque dos tornillos en la pared, si es
necesariocon dispositivos auxiliares, situados
a 3-15/16 pulgadas de separación. Deje 3/16
de pulgada entre la pared y la cabeza del
tornillo para colgar el teléfono.
2) Prepare el dispositivo para enganchar el microteléfono. (Vea “Preparando el

PARA CARGAR LA BATERÍA
M Carga Inicial de la Batería
Antes de conectar por primera vez la línea telefónica a su nuevo teléfono,
cargue por completo la batería recargable durante 15-20 horas sin
interrupción.
1) Coloque el microteléfono en la base.
2) Verifique si se enciende el indicador
de STATUS. Si el indicador no se
enciende, vea si el adaptador de
corriente alterna está conectado y si
el microteléfono hace buen contacto
con los contactos de carga de la base.
M Indicador de que la Batería está Descargada
Cuando a la batería le queda poca carga y necesita ser recargada, el teléfono
está programado para reducir funciones a fin de conservar energía. El
microteléfono emite un “bip”. Termine entonces de conversar lo antes posible
y vuelva a colocar el microteléfono en la base para que se recargue.
PARA LIMPIAR LOS CONTACTOS DE LA BATERÍA
Para mantener una buena carga hay que limpiar todos los contactos de carga
del microteléfono y la base una vez al mes, con una goma de borrar (como la

USO DE LA CARACTERÍSTICA PAGE

CÓDIGO DIGITAL AUTOMÁTICO DE SEGURIDAD
Para evitar que personas desconocidas usen su línea telefónica sin su
autorización, el MPH 6928 cuenta con un código digital de seguridad. El
microteléfono y la base comparten este código, que se cambia aleatoriamente
cada vez que se levanta el microteléfono de la base.
Para restaurar la comunicación entre el microtelefono y la base si se
interrumpe el servicio de electricidad:
1) Vuelva a conectar la base.
2) Coloque el microteléfono en la base y oprima la tecla PAGE
.
3) Descuelgue el microteléfono de la base.
4) Vuelva a colocar el microteléfono en la base. La luz de STATUS se encenderá
para indicar que se ha restaurado el código digital de seguridad.

Si usted tiene servicio de “llamadas en
espera” y escucha el sonido de que tiene
una llamada mientras está hablando,
oprima la tecla FLASH para aceptar la
nueva llamada. Tras una breve pausa,
escuchará la voz de la otra persona que

LLAMADA CON NÚMERO ADICIONAL
A veces, después de marcar un número, se exige un código de acceso como,
por ejemplo, un número de cuenta. Este número puede ser incluido en la
memoria para su uso posterior de la siguiente forma.
1) Guarde el código de acceso en uno de los lugares de la memoria (0-9).
Sea “Guardando un Número Telefónico en la Memoria”.
2) Llame al número principal en cuestión.
3) Cuando necesite entrar un número especial, oprima la tecla MEM seguida por
el número asignado en la memoria (0-9).
USANDO EL IDENTIFICADOR DE LLAMADAS
Para poder usar esta característica hay que suscribirse al servicio
de Identificación de llamadas de su compañía telefónica.
M Estableciendo las Opciones de Identificación de Llamadas
Hay tres opciones disponibles para el servicio de Identificación de Llamadas:
AutoTalk (Automático), CIDCW (Identificación de Llamadas en Llamadas en
Espera), y Código de Area.
AutoTalk (Automático) permite responder al teléfono sin tener que oprimir
la tecla TALK . Si el teléfono suena estando en AutoTalk todo lo que hay que
hacer es levantar el microteléfono de la base para responder a la llamada. Si el
teléfono suena sin estar en Autotalk, hay que oprimir TALK para contestar la
llamada. Esta opción es útil para seleccionar las llamadas con mayor
seguridad.
CIDCW (Identificación de Llamadas en Llamadas en Espera) realiza la misma
función que el identificador de llamadas regular, pero en las llamadas en
espera. Para usar esta característica hay que suscribirse al servicio
de CIDCW de su compañía telefónica local.
Si, en la opción de Código de Area, entra su código de área de tres dígitos, su
código de area local no aparecerá en los mensajes de identificación de
llamadas. Cuando revise los mensajes de identificación de llamadas verá sólo
siete dígitos en los números locales. Pero cuando la llamada sea de otra área,
verá los diez dígitos del número.
Hay que suscribirse al

para usar esta característica.
Si para llamar en su propia área tiene que marcar diez
dígitos, no programe esta opción.

Si usted llama con la modalidad
pulsante y necesita entrar dígitos en
tono, oprima la tecla TONE para entrar
esos dígitos. Una vez terminada la
llamada, la modalidad de tono queda
cancelada y las próximas llamadas serán
en la modalidad pulsante. La modalidad de tono se aplica sólo cuando la
unidad de base está ajustada a la variedad pulsante.

SELECCIONANDO OTRO CANAL
Si tiene interferencias cuando usa su teléfono,
es posible cambiar de canal manualmente
para escuchar con mayor claridad. Esto es
posible sólo cuando se está usando el teléfono.

Si en el transcurso de una conversación se
percibe estática u otro tipo de ruido que
entorpezca la percepción de los sonidos,
oprima la tecla CHAN. En la pantalla aparecerá
el siguiente letrero y el teléfono cambiará a un
canal diferente.

CUANDO SE EXCEDE EL ALCANCE DEL TELEFONO
Si, mientras habla, se aleja demasiado de la unidad de base, empezará a
escuchar un ruido cada vez mayor. Si se pasa del límite de alcance de la
unidad de base, la llamada quedará interrumpida en 20 segundos.

TABLA DE REFERENCIA
Si su teléfono no tiene el rendimiento esperado, sírvase hacer las siguientes
pruebas sencillas.

- Servicio de repararlo por un (1) año desde el día de compra original sin cobrar por labor y partes.
- Reemplazar la unidad defectuosa por una nueva, reparada, ó un modelo igual sin costo alguno por un
(1) año desde el día de la compra.
Esta garantía no es valida si el producto es:
A) Si es dañado por neglincia, abuso, mal uso, accidente, ó actos de Dios.
B) Es usado en applicaciones comerciales ó alquileres.
C) Es modificado ó reparado por otra entidad que no sea Memorex ó su representate autorisado.
D) Dañado por haberlo conectado impropiamente a equipos de otros manufactureros.
Esta garantía no cubre:
A) Costos incurridos en la transportacion de el producto hacia y de la facilidad autorizada donde
se arregle.
B) Daños ó operacion impropia causada por no seguir las instrucciones incluidas con el producto.
C) Ajustes rutinarios al producto que el cliente puede hacer como indica en el manual del producto.
D) Problemas de recepción causadas por una antena externa ó cable/sistema de satelite.
E) Productos no comprados en los Estados Unidos.
