Getting Started  
BASIC CONTROLS  
ON/OFF switch – This switch turns the unit ON or OFF.  
ACTIVITY but tons There are four activity but tons on  
the mat. Press each one to start that activity. To exit the  
current activity or start a new one, press any of these  
but tons.  
VOLUME switch – Adjust the volume to the desired level,  
from LOW to MEDIUM to HIGH.  
REPEAT – Press the cookie jar in the center of the mat to  
repeat the last direction.  
RESET but ton The control RESET but ton is on the back of  
the main unit. Pressing the RESET but ton will reset the unit  
if an error occurs.  
HOW TO PLAY  
Slide the ON/OFF switch to on. You will hear a welcome  
sound, and the phrase “Counting Cookies Math!”  
Select Activity  
Press an activity but ton to begin.  
The four activities are  
Activit y 1 – Cookie Count  
Activit y 2 – Find The Cookie  
Activit y 3 – Whats Next?  
Activit y 4 – More or Less

Activity 1 – Cookie Count  
Press the but ton to begin.  
Lets count the cookies! Listen and count along. Start on the  
zero (0) cookie. As the unit announces the numbers in order,  
press or step on them, all the way to ten (10). When youre  
finished, count backward, starting on the number ten (10)  
cookie, all the way back to zero!  
Activity 2 – Find the Cookie!  
Press the but ton to begin.  
Mmmmcookies! Help find the cookies with the right number  
of candy dots! As the game calls out a number, find and press or  
step the matching cookie on the mat! Count carefully!

Activity 3 – What’s Next?  
Press the but ton to begin.  
Lets practice counting. After the game calls out three numbers  
in sequence (2…3...4), try to find the cookie that comes next!  
Listen carefully. You may need to count backwards! This is a  
great way to practice counting skills!  
Activity 4 – More or Less?  
Press the but ton to begin.  
Now for a real challenge! Press or step on any cookie. Listen  
carefully-the game will ask you to find a cookie with a certain  
number (more or less) candy dots.

For example, if you step on the three (3) cookie, and the unit  
asks you to find a cookie with four more candy dots, you  
should press or step on the seven (7) cookie. Keep  
practicing! This is a great introduction to addition and  
subtraction!  
Note: The Counting CookiesPlay Mat features a non-skid  
bot tom, but players should take care when hopping or  
running on the mat surface.  
Battery Inform ation  
Installing or Replacing Batteries  
WARNING! To avoid bat tery leakage, please follow these  
instructions carefully. Failure to follow these instructions can  
result in bat tery acid leakage that may cause burns, personal  
injury, and property damage.  
Requires: 4 x 1.5V AA bat teries and a Phillips screwdriver  
Bat teries should be installed or replaced by an adult.  
Counting Cookiesrequires (3) three AA bat teries  
The bat tery compartment is located on the back of the  
main unit.  
To install bat tery, first undo the screw with a Phillips  
screwdriver and remove the bat tery-compartment door.  
Install bat teries as indicated inside the compartment.  
Replace compartment door and secure with screw.

Battery Care and Maintenance Tips  
Use (4) four AA bat teries.  
Be sure to insert bat teries correctly (with adult  
supervision) and always follow the toy and bat tery  
manufacturers instructions.  
Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or  
rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) bat teries.  
Do not mix new and used bat teries.  
Insert bat teries with the correct polarity. Positive (+)  
and negative (-) ends must be inserted in the correct  
directions as indicated inside the bat tery compartment.  
Do not recharge non-rechargeable bat teries.  
Only charge rechargeable bat teries under adult  
supervision.  
Remove rechargeable bat teries from the toy before  
charging.  
Only use bat teries of the same or equivalent type.  
Do not short-circuit the supply terminals.  
Always remove weak or dead bat teries from the  
product.  
Remove bat teries if product will be stored for an  
extended period of time.  
Store at room temperature.  
To clean, wipe the surface of the unit with a dry cloth.
