Storage:  
Never use or store the player in cold, hot, humid, or dusty places.  
Do not leave the cover open if the player is not being used for a long time.  
Exposure to direct sunlight or extreme heat (such as inside a parked car for more than 2  
hours) may cause damage or malfunction.  
Usage:  
Never attempt to play cracked or warped discs in the player as they may jam and damage  
the player.  
Avoid using the headphones/earphones at a high volume.  
Road Safety:  
Do not use the earphones while driving, cycling, or operating a motorized vehicle.  
Carrying:  
Please use the soft bag that comes with the player to protect it against scratches when not  
in use.

Parts Instructions  
1. Battery case (on the back of the player):  
Holds two AA batteries  
2. External 5v power socket:  
For connecting the supplied AC power adapter.  
3. Open button:  
Press to open the disc cover.  
Note: Do not open the cover while playing, or the player will be  
Turned off automatically.

For connecting a set of headphones.

6. MIC jack:  
For connecting a microphone (when using the Rec option)  
7. Volume control:  
Use to adjust the volume of the headphone. Does not affect the LINE OUT.  
8. SOUND button:  
Used to change sound settings:  
Setting 1: Normal  
Setting 2: Super Bass  
Setting 3: Bass  
Setting 4: Treble  
Setting 5: Super Treble  
9. Line out:  
Line out for connection to an amplifier.  
10. Stop button:  
Press to stop playback of a track. When in DIR mode, press to return to the last  
level directory.  
11. Play/Pause button:  
Press to turn on power and to begin to play when the power is turned off. Press to  
pause while playing, and to continue playing when paused.  
12. Fast forward:  
Press once to skip to the next track. Press and hold to fast forward through the  
current track.  
13. Rewind:  
Press once to return to the beginning of the track, and twice to play the previous  
track. Hold down to rewind the current track.  
14. LCD display panel:  
Used to display working status.

15. PLAY MODE button:  
Sets the playback mode (refer to Chapter 2 for detailed information).  
16. REP/ENT button:  
Sets repeat playback of CD and MP3 discs. Also used to enter in programming  
status.  
17. DIR/REC:  
Use to toggle between DIR and FILE mode when playing the MP3 disk. In  
recording status, use to record.  
18. RESU/NOR/HOLD (Left/Center/Right):  
RESU: Plays from where you stopped the last time.  
NOR: Play from the beginning.  
HOLD: Use to lock all buttons from accidental presses.  
19. PLAYER/RECORDER switch:  
Switches between player and recorder mode.  
Power Sources  
Using the AC Adapter:  
First turn off the player, then plug the AC power adapter into the wall. Connect  
the output jack of the adapter to the external power jack of the player.  
Note:  
Only use the supplied AC power adapter.

Using Batteries:  
Insert two 1.5V AA batteries into the battery case.  
Note:  
Your player will be damaged if you try to charge non-rechargable batteries.  
Take batteries (non-rechargable) out when the external power is being used.  
Remove batteries if the player is not going to be used for a long time.  
Do not mix new batteries with old ones.  
Do not use Mn-Zn batteries.  
Using Rechargable Batteries:  
New batteries need to be charged before being used. When the batteries are weak,  
the player will beep to remind you to charge the batteries.  
Steps for Recharging the Batteries:  
1. Turn off the player if it is playing.  
2. Insert the batteries and plug in the AC power adapter.  
3. Switch RESU/NOR/HOLD to HOLD, and press the PLAY button. Power  
indicator in the LCD should flash and the “CHG” will display in the LCD.  
The power indicator will stop flashing when the batteries are fully charged,  
and the player will automatically turn off.  
Note:  
If the batteries can only be used for short time after the charging, they can no  
longer hold a charge. Please replace the batteries.  
Charging time depends on the volume of the battery. The larger the battery  
volume is, the longer the time it will take to charge. (Charging time of two 850-  
mAH batteries is about three hours.)  
If the battery is new, it may not be charged completely until you recharge it  
several times.  
To extend the life of the battery, recharge only when the battery is completely  
discharged.

Playing MP3 and Normal CDs  
Starting Playback:  
Press PLAY to begin playback of a track.  
Stopping Playback:  
Hold STOP until “STOP” displays in the screen.  
Fast Forward:  
Hold down FORWARD to fast forward through the track.  
Rewind:  
Hold down REWIND to rewind through the track.  
Next track:  
Press FORWARD once  
Previous track:  
Press REWIND twice.  
Note: If you what to skip several tracks, first press FORWARD or REWIND once and  
hold it until the track you want is displayed in the LCD.  
The player supports the sampling frequency of 32KHz, 44.1KHz and 48KHz. It can play  
files up to 320kbps.  
The player supports a maximum of 256 directories.  
The player supports a maximum of 512 tracks.  
Note: While playing MP3 CDs, the player will rearrange the tracks to reduce the  
movement of the lens.  
All of the play modes for the CDs can be used for MP3 CDs.

Play modes  
Using the PLAY MODES button, you can select various modes of playback.  
Continuous Playback:  
1. Switch RESU/NOR/HOLD to NOR or RESU.  
2. Switch PLAYER/RECORDER to PLAYER.  
3. Press the PLAY button.  
Note: When playing a scratched or dirty disc, press the DIR/REC button once to turn on  
EPS.  
One track playback:  
To activate one track playback, press the PLAY MODE button until “1” displays in the  
screen. After playing the track, “STOP” will display in the screen and the player will turn  
off automatically.  
Intro Playback:  
To activate intro playback, press the PLAY MODE button twice until “INTRO”  
displays in the screen. The player will play the first 10 seconds of each track. After  
playing, “STOP” will display in the screen and the player will turn off automatically.  
Random Playback:  
To activate random playback mode, press the PLAY MODE button three times until  
RAND” displays in the screen. The player will play all the tracks in a random order.  
After playing, “STOP” will display in the screen and the player will turn off  
automatically.  
Programming Playback:  
To activate program playback mode, press the PLAY MODE button until “PROG”  
displays in the screen.

Using the Program and the Repeat Modes  
You can use the program mode to create a sequence of songs in a custom order.  
1. Press FORWARD or REWIND to select the track number to program.  
2. Press REP/ENT once to add the track to the sequence.  
3. If you want to delete the last track you programmed, press REWIND until the  
number decreases by one.  
4. Press PLAY MODE to exit from Program mode.  
5. After programming, press PLAY to play.  
You can use the repeat mode to play the track, program, or CD until you stop the player.  
Repeating a track:  
1. Press PLAY MODES until “1” displays in the screen.  
2. Press REP/ENT once and the LCD displays: 1  
3. Press REP/ENT once again to cancel repeating. After playing the track, “STOP”  
will display in the screen and the player will turn off automatically.  
Repeating a disc:  
1. Press PLAY MODES until “1” displays in the screen.  
2. Press REP/ENT once and the LCD displays: 1  
3. Press REP/ENT once again to cancel repeating. After playing the track, “STOP”  
will display in the screen an the player will turn off automatically.  
Repeating program:  
1. Press REP/ENT to enter into Program Repeat mode during Program Payback.  
The player will play the programmed track until turned off.  
2. Press REP/ENT once again to cancel repeating. After playing the track, “STOP”  
will display in the screen and the player will turn off automatically.

Using Directories  
When dealing with the capability for hours of music, obviously you are going to want  
some form of organization. Max-300 MP3/CD Player supports multiple directories for  
organizing the tracks on your CD.  
Tracks are arranged in alphabetical order by directory. For example, the tracks in a  
directory labeled “Beatles” will play before the tracks in the directory labeled “Pink  
Floyd”. The tracks in the directories are also played in alphabetical order. A track by the  
name of Blackbird.mp3 would play before Yellow Submarine.mp3.  
One-level Directories:  
1. During normal playback, press DIR/REC one time to enter DIR mode. The DIR  
No. should be flashing.  
2. Using FORWARD and REWIND, select the directory you want and press  
PLAY one time. It will automatically start playing the first track.  
Multi-level Directories:  
1. During normal playback, press DIR/REC one time to enter DIR mode. The DIR  
No. should be flashing.  
2. Using FORWARD and REWIND, select the next level directory you want.  
3. If you want to go to a previous directory, press STOP one time.  
Note: After selecting the directory, if there are no MP3 files in it, operation will be  
canceled in 3 seconds and return to the last operation status.  
Track Selection in DIR playback status:  
1. Press FORWARD once. The file number should be flashing.  
2. Press the FORWARD or REWIND to select the track. If you want to select  
tracks faster, hold down FORWARD or REWIND until the track you want is  
displayed in the LCD.

Using the DIR PROGRAM mode  
You can use the DIR Program mode to easily add all of the tracks in a specified  
directory to a sequence.  
1. Press the PLAY MODE button until DIR PROG displays in the screen and the  
DIR No. is flashing.  
2. Using FORWARD or REWIND, select the directory you want to add.  
3. Press REP/ENT to add all of the tracks in the directory to the program.  
4. Repeat these steps to add up to 128 tracks.  
Using the Record Feature  
Your LKM012 MP3/CD Player can record up to 500 seconds of digital audio for  
playback.  
1. Open the disc cover and take out the disc.  
2. Plug a microphone into the MIC IN jack.  
3. Switch PLAYER/RECORDER to RECORD.  
Recording:  
1. Press PLAY to turn on the power.  
2. Press the DIR/REC button to start recording and to pause.  
3. Press STOP once after recording to exit.  
4. Press PLAY to play the recorded content after recording.  
Note: The maximum recording time of the player is 500 seconds. Hold down the  
SOUND button for 2 seconds to record in a higher quality but the maximum recording  
time will be shortened to 250 seconds. After turning off the power, the recorded content  
is erased. If you record a second time, the content recorded the first time will be erased.

The player cannot read the disc or “NO DISC” in the LCD:  
The disc is scratched or dirty. Try a better quality disc.  
Water condensation has occurred in the lens. Place the player indoors for several hours.  
Check if the disc is loaded upside down.  
There is no sound coming from the earphone:  
The earphone cord may be broken.  
The earphone jack may be dirty.  
Check the volume setting.  
When you press a button, HOLD display in the LCD:  
Switch RESU/NOR/HOLD to NOR or RESU.  
After reading the disc, “00-00:00” flashes and “NO FILE” displays in the LCD.  
There are no files or no MP3 files in the MP3 disc. Please change the disc or press PLAY  
to try again.  
The disc is scratched or dirty. Please change the disc or press PLAY to try again.  
Batteries can only be used for very short time.  
Zn-Mn batteries are being used. Replace them with alkaline batteries or rechargeable  
batteries.  
The batteries’ life is expired. Replace the batteries.  
The time display moves erratically when playing MP3 CD’s:  
You may be playing VBR(Variable Bit rate) MP3s.
